Um, no. The offense looks lost, the defense looks hurt, and things won't get better until Lovie and Angelo are gone.

/and Cutler looks like a shellshocked QB

Maybe they should of waited on that contract extension. Maybe...

Cause it's not going to get any better next week.

I love the name Johnny Knox. He sounds like a martial arts movie star rather than a wideout.

Ya know, other than the 1 run, he didn't do anything.

That's just going to be an ugly game. I don't think Cutler will even last the whole game. I fully expect the Bears to lose by 20+ points.

The other part is even though he completed 56% of his passes, they went for 4 yards an average.

I hear what you're saying. But I see Garret Wolfe running into the pile for no gain more often than I see him breaking off 20 yard runs.

Cutler was more to blame for last night's loss moreso than other weeks. It was pretty obvious that he was more concerned about avoiding interceptions than making completions.

But Cutler is just one part of this giant machine of suck that is the Chicago Bears. The defense has given up the ghost and the offensive line is as pathetic as it has been for the past few years. If it weren't for Gould, Knox, Hester and Maynard the Bears would be right down there with the Lions and Browns.

Fark-the-Fnord 2009-11-23 08:38:55 AM
I was really pleased with the number of penalties that the Eagles got this time. It was much lower than what it usually is and that really helped them in the end. I was also very pleased that the Eagles seemed to get over their fear of the end zone.

And those four know it.... especially Hester. I lost count how many times Hester gave a disapproving glare at Cutler last night.

Cutler did very much seem like he didn't even want to be there. The throws were so far ahead of everyone, it was obvious he was scared shiatless of another interception.

The defense seems to have lost their heart when they lost Urlacher. The Bears defense could always be counted on to be a brick wall, and even when the offense sucked (which it often did under Grossman and others) the defense would at least give us hope that we might keep the score at least workable. Now, team after team keeps making second down conversions like it's nothing, just running all over and through our defense like it's not even there.

I'm from Michigan, so my two teams were always the Bears and the Lions, and of course the University of Michigan on the college side. This has been a very, VERY painful couple of years.

Cutler did did seem to have a particular mental block with Hester yesterday. Like they said last night, when you are consistently overshooting Hester, who is possibly the fastest guy in Illinois right now, you have a serious problem.

Rebuilding's gonna suck without draft picks.

jayhawk88 2009-11-23 09:01:37 AM
I'd just like to say that Jay Cutler and I are done, professionally. I've been pretty loyal to him in FF this year, but if he can't even get me 200+ against the Eagles at home, he sure as hell isn't going to do it against the Vikings twice and Ravens down the stretch.

Dammit, I knew I should have drafted Schaub instead of him. Nothing sucks worse than being 9-2 and dominating your fantasy league all year, and knowing that it's going to all fall apart down the stretch because you're either going to have to start Matt Cassel or go waiver wire diving each week.

I'm now expecting the Bears to give up 3rd down and 15 or less conversions to the other team.

True, true. Considering the production the badonkaBroncos got out of Orton, I'm thinking that second first round pick the Bears gave up was too much.

The fact that there were some players playing last night due to injuries who did a really good job is just FURTHER PROOF that Lovie, et all can't evaluate talent worth a damn as those guys should have been playing all year long.

Lovie's head in the sand, keep doing the same old shiat over and over and over again and unwillingness to make a change is, arguably, indicative of him having some mental illness.

The lot of them should be fired TODAY and let a search for a competent, capable and PROFESSIONAL management/coaching staff start NOW.

Waiting till the season is over or (God Forbid) until his contract runs out is silly and futile at this point.

Further, as he was hired to coach, prepare and field a PROFESSIONAL caliber football team and HAS NOT done so can't he be fired for material breach of contract?

This happens on Fark anytime the Broncos implode. Their fans vanish for the most part. There are a few usernames who will be on here even when they do shiatty, but I'd say 90% of them dissipate into the fog on shiatty playing.

Knox is faster (Bell had like a 10 or 15 yard headstart on him and he still ran him down from behind rather quickly to help out with blocking), and Cutler even managed to overthrow him on a sure touchdown to put them back ahead. Of course, the defense probably would have allowed more points after that, but still.

The o-line stinks, the defense is spotty, and last night Cutler stunk too.

There will be at least three more people after this comment that will tell you and I that it was Hester and Knox's fault. Not Cutlers.

I seriously wish that the people around me had the cognitive dissonance to make that many excuses for me when I fark up.

It was Cutler's fault. His wide receivers were wide open. At least last year when Orton under threw Hester on those deep routes, we would sometimes wind up getting a pass interference call. But not when it's overthrown by 10 yards. Cutler was 24-43 last night. That's not horrible, but he wasn't even as good as those numbers suggest.

Briggs pretty much singlehandedly kept the game under control on the defensive side. He must have made 3 TD saving tackles, for all the good it ended up doing.

I agree with laying this one solidly on Cutler. This is the 3rd game he's lost by himself this year. After last night, I don't want to hear anyone else saying that the problem is the receivers in Chicago. Hester was burning the Eagles secondary all day, and the throws were behind him, at his feet, and although god only knows how, too deep.

As a Bears fan, my first thought when I saw that run was that it was nothing amazing. I knew immediately that people would be all over his jock, but the truth is that a better running back scores a touchdown on that play. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice run, but you could have driven a semi through that hole.

Someone should have informed the Bears that Culter and Shanahan, if not the Bronocs, are cursed. The Jake Plummer does not abide.

SlothB77 2009-11-23 09:57:31 AM
this is more of a falling apart year than a rebuilding year.

It seems as the season goes on, Cutler and the receivers are more and more *not* on the same page. The confused glances after an incompletion seem to be more and more frequent. The O-Line is getting more and more penalized. The defense is less and less able to hold the other team. I see this team just waiting for one key guy to get hurt so the team can blame the season on injuries and 'when we're healthy next year, we'll be among the elite teams'. The problems this year were not because of injuries. Every team has key guys go down every year. Indy losing Bob Sanders is not any less of a loss than Chicago losing Urlacher. The reason for their 4-6 record is, from offense to defense to coaching they are just not a good enough team.

Cutler missed the throws he needed to make to win the game. Hester open for the touchdown on the right side.

This team is way too fragile to survive Cutler having a bad game. Good teams, not the Bears, can have other aspects step up to win the game for the team. We just need Cutler to have an o.k. day and we would win more. His sucking drags this team down.

And what the hell is a running team going to do with someone that can throw the ball? I think it has more to do with how the team is set up at this point, because they don't seem to know what to do with a decent QB.

I noted the similarities in the thread last night. It bothers me when people who don't watch/understand the games assign blame wrongly. Blaming Hester instead of Cutler, Forte instead of the O line, the secondary instead of the front four, etc.

It REALLY bothers me when Jerry Angelo is one of those people.

He finally has one good game against the 2nd worst defense in the league (2nd to the Browns of course) and all of a sudden you want to anoint him and say everyone was wrong about him.

I've got a better stat for Brady Quinn.

Career passer rating: 68.5

You can't judge a QB based on 8 career starts. Manning was 71.2 through his first 16 games.

Not saying I think Quinn is going to be Manning or even good, just keepin it real, yo.
