I've lived near a couple of smallish towns that were dry since prohibition, then went wet. The answer is yes, there can be too many places that sell beer.

The day liquor resale licenses went into effect, everyone with a refrigerator or a sizable patch of shade was selling. Many didn't even sell it cold. Now, each town has 2 or 3 liquor stores, as well as beer being sold at convenience and grocery stores... the way God intended.

As a Minnesota resident, where beer can only be bought at liquor stores, I can only wish for the opportunity to have too many places to buy beer. Sounds nice.

My town has a liquor store every couple of blocks, since it is a college town. All of them seem to be thriving quite nicely. There are several Discount Liquors, but there are a bunch of other liquor stores too, and I have never seen one with a completely empty parking lot.

There's one in particular on St. Charles that won't sell because the owners are Muslim and it's against their religious beliefs. They don't seem to have any religious qualms about selling crack pipes though. That irks me.

I live in Edmonton, where beer, wine, and liquor can only be sold in liquor stores and there are so many rules about where those stores can be located. Somehow, though, I can't go a block without hitting a place to buy booze despite the rules and regs. And business seems to be doing alright for all of these places.

I was doing the whole God thing to be snarky, but I may have inadvertently hit that one closer to home than I had intended. I didn't think about the blue laws. Yea. They still thrive around here. No hard liquor after 9. No hard liquor on Sunday. Buying double on Saturday is just a way of life here, I guess.

No no no no no, I live in Saskatoon, where liquor is controlled under a government monopoly, and unlike in places like EDMONTON, I cannot buy booze at the real Canadian Liquorstores, conveniently located next to where I get my groceries. Great Western Beer, winner of numerous awards and brewed right here in Saskatoon, is more expensive here than in Alberta. Probably because of the fact that the SLGA stores pay their cashiers more than double our minimum wage for the easiest job in town. For shame. Government run booze sales=lame!

The main street in the little town in Texas I grew up in was 3ish miles long. There were 21 places you could buy alcohol in some form.

Not much to do in the Cowboy Capitol but get drunk and fark.

Cider is the shiat. I wish they would sell some other ciders instead of just Hornsby where I live. My girlfriend brought some Strongbow from England and IMO it was better than Hornsby

Yesterday, I had to walk all the way over to the 'state store' for a bottle of vodak, then walk 6 blocks to the beer distributor to get a box of beer, and schlep both all the way home, after stopping at the grocery store for orange juice. I guess I should be grateful that I can buy any booze at all on a Sunday in PA.

No kidding. I went to college in PA, and I still remember the first time I tried to buy alcohol. Having to go to 3 different stores to get the booze you needed for a party still pisses me off.

The college was in Lancaster county, which makes things worse, because the Amish and Mennonites will buy up the liquor licences to keep people from using them.

However, it was the only state where you could go to a "restaraunt" that had a kitchen smaller than the one you have at home, but with more coolers than a Sheetz, all full of beer.

I live overseas and they sell beer in all of the convenience stores, grocery stores and mom and pop cigarette shops. In a span of 3 blocks there are at least 15 places for me to get a beer. Oh and there is no stupid 'open container laws' so walking and drinking is totally acceptable and they sell it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

According to the old CDT (Centre Daily Times) here in central PA, Sheetz has applied for a license to sell beer. Though, it would be no liquor and nothing larger than a six pack.

I'm sure the distributors will resist this heavily. We have 3 Sheetz here in State College alone. We have the most archaic alcohol laws in the country, but that doesn't stop PA from having an alcohol problem just like the rest of the country.

I live in Brookfield. The area between Brookfield and Tosa is a slum. This is all we need to make the area around 124th and Capital a thriving area for crime. (more than it already is)
