darkness imprisoning me
all that I see
absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
trapped in myself
body my holding cell

car wreck has taken my sight
taken my speech
taken my hearing
taken my arms
taken my legs
taken my soul
left me with life in hell

bighasbeen [TotalFark] 2009-11-22 06:57:42 PM
He couldn't live like this because he would go crazy. But he couldn't die because he couldn't kill himself. If he could only breathe he could die. That was funny but it was true. He could hold his breath and kill himself. That was the only way left. Except that he wasn't breathing. His lungs were pumping air, but he couldn't stop them from doing it. He couldn't live and he couldn't die.

No no no that can't be right.

No no.

Mother.

Mother where are you?

Hurry mother hurry hurry hurry and wake me up. I'm having a nightmare mother where are you? Hurry mother. I'm down here. Here mother. Here in the darkness. Pick me up. Rockabye baby. Now I lay me down to sleep. Oh mother hurry because I can't wake up. Over here mother. When the wind blows the cradle will rock.

Hold me up high high.

Mother you've gone away and forgotten me. Here I am. I can't wake up mother. Wake me up. I can't move. Hold me. I'm scared. Oh mother mother sing to me and rub me and bathe me and comb my hair and wash out my ears and play with my toes and clap my hands together and blow my nose and kiss my eyes and mouth like I've seen you do with Elizabeth like you must have done with me. Then I'll wake up and I'll be with you and I'll never leave or be afraid or dream again.

Oh no.

I can't. I can't stand it. Scream. Move. Shake something. Make a noise any noise. I can't stand it. Oh no no no.

Please I can't. Please no. Somebody come. Help me. I can't lie here forever like this until maybe years from now I die. I can't. Nobody can. It isn't possible.

I can't breathe but I'm breathing. I'm so scared I can't think but I'm thinking. Oh please please no. No no. It isn't me. Help me. It can't be me. Not me. No no no.

Oh please oh oh please. No no no please no. Please.

Not me.

This really makes you think, what if Terri Schiavo was in the same situation ?

MissFeasance [TotalFark] 2009-11-22 07:25:30 PM
Woah. That's a fate worse than death.

Her brain was jelly. Rather different.

'I screamed, but there was nothing to hear.'

Bloody hell... I can't imagine such a fate for a few days, let alone 23 years...

TwistedIvory [TotalFark] 2009-11-22 07:38:46 PM
Oh my god. That is absolutely, unequivocally horrifying. It honestly gives me the creeps.

Mordant: This really makes you think, what if Terri Schiavo was in the same situation ?

I can't speak for Terri, but I'd rather have the plug pulled in error after one year than spend 10 years waiting for someone to notice. Cut me up, take what bits of me can save someone else, and let me have a rest.

Only days before her recovery, a judge had granted her family's request for the removal of the feeding tube which had been keeping her alive.

Same thing happened in Massachusetts. A little girl was hurt badly in a domestic attack, suffered brain damage, and was diagnosed as a vegetable. Authorities got Supreme Court approval to pull the plug. Apparently that threat was the incentive she needed to wake up.

What's his FARK login? I will sponsor the HELL out of that!

Unbelievable. Dr Laurey should be given a separate "Hero" tag.

I would like to know what prompted him to do a scan after all those years.

No way can there be a god that gives a shiat.

TheMadChaosopher 2009-11-22 08:22:47 PM
so...

he was faking?

Fjornir [TotalFark] 2009-11-22 08:22:47 PM
And this is why I have left strict instructions to have life support withdrawn if I am ever in such a situation.

The disclosure will also renew the right-to-die debate over whether people in comas are truly unconscious.

Or put it to bed forever since now we can tell the difference.

Farking weird story. Generally "locked-in" people maintain their eye and eyelid function. You'd think that at SOME point during the 23 years somebody would have realized that he was looking around, blinking, etc. I'd like to hear more details.

I'm guessing he didn't want to just kill someone without one last shot.

So the guy was malingering the whole time? Does the health care bill address this problem?

I'm betting the first message he tapped out was "please kill me."

Thank God he can now look forward to a long, full life in a hospital bed.

I wouldn't exactly call single digit Morse code being saved from his fate. He is farked, and better off dead.

Loquisimo 2009-11-22 08:29:43 PM
he's faking it!

I cannot believe he is still sane after that appalling ordeal. Gotta find that journal article mentioned in the link.

Where is the 'Absolutely Horrifying' tag when we need it?

If there was a hell, this would be it.

This is bullshiat. Disability scam.

I remember seeing an Outer Limits(maybe?)episode something like this. It may have been unrealistic but it freaked me out at the time. I wonder how he managed to hold onto any sanity.

So this god tortures people until the people figure out by themselves how to undo his tortures one by one? And this sociopath is what god-freaks worship?

my question is why did they wait three years to make this public? Were they going to just sweep the 23-years of suffering under the rug if it didn't work out the way they wanted?

Ponzholio 2009-11-22 08:33:01 PM
So he was just mostly dead?

The disclosure will also renew the right-to-die debate over whether people in comas are truly unconscious.

If I'm ever trapped in my own body for years in a hospital, completely conscious, I would hope, HOPE someone down the line would kill me.

Oldiron_79 2009-11-22 08:36:23 PM
over in first 2.

well, I'm an organ donor and my next of kin is already aware of that, so hopefuly I'll never have to worry about being in a coma or so paralyzed I appear to be in one.

I think you mean, used his divine power to stop such random and terrible things from happening in the first place.
