It was a nuclear attack on Denver by Obama supporters that was thwarted by elements within the US Air Force loyal to the CIA and their lizard-men allies. Link (new window)

My favorite Utah meteor video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-CAbDHJGKI

For a moment, the sky is blue, the mountains are snowy white, the trees show their color, and the lawn is green. It actually gets brighter than at day.

/Was lucky to see the meteor's flash myself that night.

Hadn't seen the video until now - pretty cool.

Have to think it had to be pretty freaky if you saw it in person and didn't realize what it was. I've seen little shooting stars before, but nothing like this.

Great. The THIRD repeat in THREE days that I'll comment on and then won't be able to return to later. Fantastic.

Yeah, the might interpret it as something spiritual and make up and entire religion on something based on hearsay and half truths thus spreading oppression and ignorance abound. All for something that had a simple scientific explanation. But us humans are waaaay too smart for that.

Now I am more skeptical than most people. You can tell me that they sky is blue, and I will ask for proof.

However, there seem to have been more of these large meteoroids coming in as of late.

The Indonesia incident, the San Fran bolide, the one over the Sudan, and the Quebec, among other noticeable large fireballs lately do deserve further study.

Maybe it is proof that we are more connected globally, with more technology and teh ability to disseminate video and news faster. In fact, I know that must be the reason for the apparent increase in these types of reports.

But part of me is convinced that maybe we are moving through a debris field of sometime with larger chunks of something.

I can't wait for the science to show something.

What color should the sky be when you have a -20 magnitude meteor overhead at night?

Assuming you're not trolling, then I'm curious: just why do you think the sky is blue during the day? The Giant Smurf God theory of sky blueness has long since been supplanted by the Benjamin Moore Corollary, which became a full-fledged axiom once it was shown for certain that Eiffel 65 was not responsible.

To continue...

A pickup had ran into a police car in front of my place so I know this happed later that night on October 13th, 2008 about 2am in the morning in Austin, Texas. I went outside and noticed the faucet was dripping and as I was turning the knob on the faucet a bright light hit me and I thought it was a cop across the street spotlighting me, but when I turned around there was nothing across the street and then I looked up and saw this bright white meteor directly overhead but below the cloud deck. It looked like magnesium burning and left a long contrail then it just went out, dark again, but the contrail lingered for quite sometime. I could not see the sky for a cloud deck obscured it at about a mile altitude and the contrail was under the cloud deck still visible after the meteor quit. It was the brightest meteor I have seen in my life and I have spent a lot of time looking up at the night sky.

I saw the videos the other day on TV and just looked at them again with the links above. That is so freaking cool man!

There was one in the daytime in Austin during the marithon (race).
They finally found pieces of that one up by Waco the meteor hunters had tracked down.

The sky is always blue, it just looks black at night because that's the color of Nyx's cloak. When she casts it over the world the sky 'looks' black because that's all we can see. But behind her cloak it's still blue one would presume (though it's hard to say while Helios's chariot is still on the other side of the world).

Actually Utah is in the Intermountain West(or Intermountain Region) between the Rockies and the Cascades

It's funny.

We spend all our time fighting with each other over ridiculous bullshiat while an indifferent universe sits by ready and willing to wipe us out just like the dinosaurs.

We should be spending our time and efforts trying to get off this rock. I wouldn't be surprised if our descendants figure out that they aren't going to have enough time to escape the death of our solar system because we spent so much time fighting over some land in the farking desert.

Indeed it was. I live in West Jordan, Utah and that night my puppy was barking so I went out in the backyard with him so he could relieve himself. All of a sudden, it was brighter than the sun at noon on a summer day with an eerie green twinge/glow. It lasted about 3 seconds and totally freaked me out.

It hasn't been widely reported but anyone who was directly lit up by the light of the meteor (not through a window) now has a superpower. You just have to figure out what it is. Good luck. And hopefully you can hook up with Claire Bennett.

I was living in Cali about 10 years ago and this happened at around 9pm right over head when a buddy and I were *cough* partying up in the hills. At first I thought it was a police helicopter shining it spot light on me but when I looked around..I could see for miles (pardon The Who reference). It was amazing.

If you RTFA:
[For those complaining about my title, I said "midwest" because the meteor was seen as far east as Colorado, which sits on the west/midwest border, and, duh, I needed a word that started with "M".]

And most people from Colorado would deny it.

"fake

I'm a photographer. I occasionally shoot long exposures at night, and I can assure you that the sky is blue given the right exposure no matter what time it is. If you take a 2 minute exposure with a high enough ISO in the middle of the night, it will largely look like a daylight picture, especially if the moon is out. This meteorite provided enough light to make it "day" for a second.
