We are one step closer to having that Grudge Match from MTV be a real show, not just a claymation fight.

Can we just call it in as a society and start forcing prisoners to fight with rusty hooks?

Coolio in an MMA match? Hopefully he'll have a fantastic voyage.

His real beef was not being able to bring a loaded shotgun into the ring.
Why is this moron not in jail yet?

In other news, Coolio is desperate enough to take a beating for a paycheck.

Why doesn't anyone ever get their face caved-in in any of these 'fights'. What a disappointment all of these extreme fights have been. If I wanted to see guys rolling around wrapped in each others legs I would go to a gay bath house.

I want blood, and not just some frat boys cauliflower ear popping.

Bonanza Jellybean 2009-11-22 10:56:19 PM
Butterbean got dropped from that card too. It's almost as cursed as UFC 106 seemed to be (which turned out to be pretty awesome, BTW).

i have a sort of respect for coolio. ive noticed him on one of bill mahers shows and also the hollywood squares. he has managed to parlay a couple of hit singles (one of which was a remake of an old song) and a funny haircut into a career and will never have to do an honest days work for the rest of his life.

/livin the dream...

MMA allows elbows which can produce terrible cuts. I quit watching MMA when I saw one fight in which a fighter was doused in his own blood from cuts to his head caused by elbows

As bad as boxing can get with its plastered wraps, at least with boxing you can't hit a man when he is down, you can't put your full weight on his throat, you can't stomp on his feet and so many other things that constitute "good technique" in MMA.

It's probably a good thing DMX backed out because he is a tiny little man. I'm 5'10' about 190 and he is shorter than me.

FTA: "He subsequently dropped out of the match amid claims his safety would be put at risk - but organisers later alleged he quit after they refused to fix the fight to ensure he was crowned champion."

That farker was almost 32 when Gangsta's Paradise came out.

Hitting a guy while he's down and stopping the fight after 1 or 2 clean shots is a lot more humane than allowing a concussed boxer to keep fighting just because he got up before the count to 10.

I've yet to find a sanctioned MMA league that allows attacks to the throat. Would you mind enlightening me here?

You can't do that in MMA

That.

I mean, I'm well aware that MMA fighters are the most dangerous bad-asses on Earth when it comes to unarmed combat...

but seriously, that shiat is _not_ a spectator sport.

i predict that this fight will be about as serious as a celebrity basketball game on MTV.

The hundreds of thousands of PPV buys, massive attendance at bars showing the fights and sellout crowds would seem to refute this claim.

They allow blood chokes but not the actual throat. Most people do not realize there is a difference and assume people are being choked out. Choking someone can do permanant damage to a persons throat with minimal effort and end careers and even kill people without intention, blood choking just clows blood flow to the brain and causes people to get dizzy and pass out. As long as you stop after they pass out, no real permenant damage is done. Think sleeper hold in wrestling, only real.

It's a generational thing.

I'd blame Don King the dirty disorganization of boxing, but from what I hear, MMA is just as farked up.

So, basically, if you don't watch it it doesn't qualify as a spectator sport.

Got it.

Well that is the very definition; Spectator = people watching

What exactly have you heard? Any business that is worth hundreds of millions is going to be a little dirty and disorganized, but to say MMA is as bad as boxing, I would say is a bit of a stretch. Having said that, I don't think the business side is what makes MMA better than boxing.

He didn't want it to be a work. He just wanted his contract to require from the organizer/promoter that he won.
