This checkpoint is purposely conducted during the Thanksgiving celebration period in an attempt to reduce the amount of drinking and driving associated with Thanksgiving celebrations and to provide a turkey to those families in need of one during this time of the year.

I have heard that he raped and murdered a girl back in 1990, and is not even interested in proving he did otherwise.

So, if you aren't drunk you get a free turkey. So, you get stopped to see if you're drunk by some cop who'd rather be doing anything but working a DUI check point. You're not drunk so you get back into your car and he says "Since you're not drunk, have a free turkey." and tosses and frozen 11 pound turkey through your open window and onto your lap.
