rickythepenguin [TotalFark] 2009-11-22 10:32:24 AM
last week went ok. I picked the Bengals over the Steelers and was roundly criticized, but that worked out. I said they were an 80% chance to cover and a 20% chance to win outright. Also nailed the Wash/Denver game. I said Denver was probably looking past Wash to this week's game vs. SD and was right. But I was crazy wrong about ATl/Caro, as I said ATL by 5 or 7, and they lost by 9. Also Cowboys Packers. I said Dallas would not just win but "stomp". Uh, I'll take that one back. 7 points against the Packer's D?

Balt/Cleve i kinda hedged...I said if the Browns can manually submit Cleve, Cleve will roll over and give up and that is what they did. But I also said this season has shown where truly bad teams get it up for one good game (exhibit A, Wash last week v Denver), but that didn't happen. a 16 piont third quarter was lights out for Cleve.I missed some others (Philly winning, Chiefs not winning) but ehhh.

At Detroit -3 Cleve 37.5

wow, Detroit beign favored just looks odd on paper. But Cleveland is a trainwreck. Detroit by 5-7.

At Jax -8.5 Buffalo 42.5

I think Buff covers. Jax is a decent home team (3-1), but that is a bit misleading with wins v Rams, Titans, and Chiefs, but with Buff just firing their coach their ship willbe rudderless for a few weeks.

Pittsburgh -10 At KC 40

Pittsburgh in a stomp. They were embarassed at home last week and they need to start getting some Ws. It appears that their only playoff hopes are wild card and there are a few teams sitting -- like Pittsburgh -- at 6-3, and with Cincy winning today at Oakland, Pittsburgh needs to keep pace. Plus KC sucks ass. Tomlin will have the Steelers angry and wanting to make a statement. Steelers by 16.

Indy -1.5 At Balt 44.5

Indy wins. With T-Sizzle out (thanks, B-Quinn!) the vaunted Ravens D will be down. Ravens are 3 and 1 at home, Indy is (undefeated, duh) so 5-0 OTR. I think Indy wins by single digits, easily more than 1.5.

NY Giants -7 Atlanta 46

Well well farking well. Someone's season ends today. Someone goes to 6-4 and has their playoff hopes on life support, and someone drops to 5-5 and can start watching tape for the 2010 draft. NYG is rested. thier hoem 2-2 record has two wins against shiat (Wash, Oak) and two losses against legitimate NFL teams (Arizona, San Dog). But, ATL is 1-4 OTR. I think NYG wins but at 7 points -- and ATL can score points -- I think a cover happens. I mean, check total pionts: NYG is 5th, at 25.8 per, and ATL is 14th at 24.6. Cover city, baby. But NYG wins. They cannot lose their 5th in a row, coming off two weeks' rest.

At Green Bay -6.5 SF 42

GB needs this game desperately. Minn has the North firmly in its grasp, and if they want any shot at the playoffs, sitting at 5-4 today, they need this game. SF is 1-3 OTR. GB is 4th in PPG surrendered (19.9) and SF averages that in offense (20.4). But 6.5? I think that's a cover. GB wins it but SF covers.

At Minnesota -10.5 Seattle 46.5

Minne stomps.

At Dallas -11 Wash 41.5

Dallas stomps. Dallas is still one of the most puzzling teams in the NFL; 6-3, losses to NYG in Week 2 and Denver and last week's laydown at GB....but Washington sucks ass. Dallas averages 25 per game and Wash only 16. And oh by the way, Wash's next road win in 2009 will be their first. I think the good Dallas team shows today and wins.

New Orleans -10.5 At TB 51

Huh. Last week's skate at STL seems to have told Vegas to chill out, as this line should be more like 13.

Arizona -9 At STL 47

Arizona by 2 TDs. We're undefeated OTR. This line should be more like 11.5. Vegas is just showing STL some love after last week's valiant performance v NO. But Arizona by like, 13.

At New Eng -10.5 NY Jets 45

Man, remember everyone putting NYJ in the Super Bowl after Week 2? but that number is too big. I think NYJ finds a way to keep it in single digits. Covertown, dog.

Cincinnati -9.5 At Oakland 36

I think this should arguably be larger. Cincinatti is legit and if you deny this you're just hating. And Oakland's already shiatty offense is now making the jump to something called Bruce Gradkowski. the line should be a tiny bit higher IMO. I say Cincy by like, 16.

San Diego -4.5 At Denver Off

1) the total points is off? huh. haven't seen Off in a long time.

2) I think San Dog in a convincing win. Denver had that great start but they've come back to earth as most of us not drinking the Orange Crush kool-aid predicted. And i think San Dog deserves more respect than just 4.5. I think SD by at least a TD.

Phila 3 At Chicago 45

Kinda like my Pittsburgh/Cincy mention, Philadelphia needs wins to keep pace in the East. NYG cannot be counted out (unless they lose today) so Phila needs to start stacking wins. Chicago is officially a bad team, and this is a chance to Phila to get a W. 3 points? Take the Eagles straight up. This is a 10 point game.

At Houston -4.5 Tennessee 48

this game might have looked good in August, with Tenn coming off the year they had and a lot of people picking Houston to make some noise. Combined record? 8-10. Houston, by a TD.

Reggie Bush is out (and he has been pouring it on lately). Both starting CBs are out. Sedrick Ellis is still out. Sharpers is back, thank God, but if the offense doesn't limit the turnovers, it will be another nailbiter.

I just feel bad for Orakpo getting drafted into that travesty. He's too good to be on the Redskins. Well, with Face-stomper Haynesworth out, the Cowboys really just have to shut down Orakpo.

Doesn't matter - they won't be on TV in any case.

I've only had the opportunity to watch the Raiders get stomped once this years because of that damned, idiotic, we-hate-our-own-consumers Blackout Rule.

Watching the Rams or Browns get beat down just isn't the same - I don't hate either of them.

Because you're obviously on acid.

It's a classic trap game for the Bengals. I honestly believe the Raiders will win today, and no I'm not on drugs.

I don't think the Eagles were on acid when they went down there and got handed a loss. I think the Bengals should win, but that game is a dangerous one for them.

Think of it this way, did you draft Manning to sit on your bench? I didn't think so. Start Manning unless he's hurt.

I need help, with Benson out, who do I start Snelling or B Scott in a PPR league.

Trap games are for over-confident teams. If you are a Bengal, given their history, you should never feel over confident. I see you are a Raiders fan, but no, the Raiders have no shot.

This. I'm in no way trying to argue that the Raiders are good, I'm just saying that this smells like a letdown game for the Bengals. I can't stress enough how huge it is that JaMarcus Russell has is sitting his fat ass on the bench.

I would pay just about anything to get some of what you're smoking. The Bengals had to travel cross country? That's what you're riding? It's the Raiders and that team is bad. Not Browns bad, but pretty damn horrible.

yeah, dallas is a really interesting team. they've played some really bad football at time (they were trying to lose the KC game a few weeks ago) and last week, but then they have looked pretty good at times. two different teams wearing the silver and blue.

but 11 is a big number....but, as i said above, the next Washington road win will be their first in 2009. and i think the Cowboys will be Dr. Jekyll, not Hyde, today.

The Redskins main objective is to beat the Cowboys. They practice all season for the Cowboys. There is a question on the job application for Redskins coach that asks, can you beat the Cowboys.

I hope you're right. One thing I've learned is that I can't predict my team at all. San Diego doesn't derserve respect because they're bad in the trenches (both sides) and Rivers is reduced to chucking the ball around. Norv Turner is about as insightful as a potato chip. LT needs a blocking back (he needs Lorenzo Neal) and I don't like this road game at all.
