(Sports by Brooks) Fail Knicks went to drastic lengths to prevent crosstown NJ Nets from dropping to 0-13, which is precisely why the Nets are now 0-13. (with wrong basket video goodness)   (sportsbybrooks.com) divider line 22

Just saw this on Yahoo's main page. D'Antoni (or whatever the Knick's coach's name is) was livid. I'd say the clip is full of 'meh' as the clock had already expired. Nate's only fault is not waiting an extra few seconds before he shot the ball. It was very close to the buzzer and if the clock operator waited a hair later to start the clock the shot would have counted.

On the plus side the Knicks have now won more games this November then the Yankees (2), Nets, Jets & Giants (0) combined.

/pitchers and catchers report in 90 days (or so)

If you intentionally shoot at your own basket, it doesn't count. Unintentional baskets do count.

From the NBA's rules website:

d. A field goal accidentally scored in an opponent's basket shall be added to the opponent's score, credited to the opposing player nearest the shooter and mentioned in a footnote.
e. It is a violation for a player to attempt a field goal at an opponent's basket. The opposing team will be awarded the ball at the free throw line extended.

I can't watch the video, would someone mind explaining what the hell happened?

/also, yes, cross-river rivals is more appropriate, though the two stadiums are 15 minutes apart.

Fail on SbB? That's redundant.

The Knicks also have more wins this month than the Mets.

/there's always next decade
//and the decade after next
///could be worse, though. Isn't that right, Cubs fans?

Nothing interesting. Right after the end of the first quarter, Nate Robinson shot the ball into the other basket, which would have given the Nets three points if the buzzer hadn't yet sounded, which, again, it had. But apparently he cut it a little too close, timing-wise, and the coach was really pissed at him, or something.

headline leads you to believe that the knicks scored points for the nets, but that's not the case. avoid clicking.

Good luck proving it was intentional. If I were the Nets coach (thank God I'm not), I'd be screaming that he was confused and that was an accidental shot at the wrong basket.

And the coach would be wrong, and awarded no points (may God have mercy on his soul). Rule doesn't cover whether or not the intent was to shoot on the wrong basket, only that the intent was to shoot. Meaning that rebound tips into the opposing net count, but jump shots and dunks don't.

He should definitely argue for the ball in his front court to open the second quarter though.

He waited until he heard the buzzer, then shot. It was a practice shot. Why is anyone getting their panties in a bunch about this?

What if you intent to shoot, but the ball slips out of your hands and goes in the other basket?

You wouldn't be in the NBA. So no issue there either.

Quite possibly the most annoying video I've ever had to watch, stopping literally every 2 seconds and then starting again. Doesn't anybody know how to properly allow streaming videos on SBB? They sure do know how to cake the site with ads, though.

Maybe because the Knicks will be lucky to scrape together 25 wins this season, and Nate could have easily taken a shot at the NETS BASKET with that half second of time?

Even Aaron Brooks in the NFL throwing backwards passes didn't miss the target by 84 feet.

That's only because he lacks the gifts of JaMarcus Russell.

I don't give a rats' ass about the NBA, and I know it's never called, but Robinson also took about 6 little steps as he turned around. Not that travelling would ever be called at the "pro" level.... Just sayin...
