Honestly, a better casting of Ozy would have saved that movie.

I liked it, but the casting of Ozymandius killed me. Easily the largest flaw in the film, and the easiest to fix.

Anyone Keanu Reeves portrayed in a movie.

Having never read the graphic novel of Watchmen, I enjoyed Watchmen for what it was and the cast. Could have used less blue dong.

I loved it and had no problem with it at all. I thought it was a far better adaptation than Iron Man or any other comic book movie except perhaps Batman Begins, Dark Knight, or V for Vendetta.

I thought Night Owl II was the weakest part of that movie.

Eh, certainly they could've replaced Emma Frost with Jessica Alba as Sue Storm. Emma Frost was particularly noteworthy in the Wolverine movie.

am I the only one who thought Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were the least of the Daredevil/Elektra flicks' problems? Even Kingpin played by Michael Clark Duncan wasn't nearly as bad as the over-all writing.

How about Laurie's character throughout the Mars talk? Or having "Hallelujah" playing during the sex scene? There were way too many cringe-worthy moments for me to like the film.

I only saw it once in the theater so don't recall my every reaction, but I had very few problems with it.

I actually really liked all of the casting for the movie. If I had to complain about anyone, it would have been Akerman's line deliveries. (she certainly had the look though...)

Really? I thought Patrick Wilson did a farking fantastic job with Dreiberg, almost as brilliant as Haley's Rorschach. Honestly, I don't understand that statement. He was the perfect choice.

pnhfitz: Venom Mary Jane Watson.

The travesty of Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane farking Watson is a far bigger crime against humanity than Venom.

A better casting of Ozymandias would never have saved that film. I'm not sure what would have (if anything), but most certainly that would not have worked.

Jesus christ, the Watchmen fanboys are out in force today.

Give it a rest, guys. To honor the book, the movie would have to be > 6 hrs, and no way the story can be parsed out to 2 or 3 installments. That the book ever made it to film in a respectable way is an achievement.

I am not usually one to dislike films very much, I have an open mind and can enjoy most of them. That said, I did not like Watchmen at all. I don't know if it was the plot, the writing, or the pacing, but I just did not like it. Maybe I'll give it another shot but there was more problems to that movie than the casting of Ozymandius.

thefatbasturd 2009-11-21 03:52:25 PM
I think the most telling thing about the article is that of the 10 listed 7 are from comics and one is from a children's book. Not a whole lot of depth to your literary experiences huh, Meredith? And I'm not saying she's wrong about any of them, but to be honest I DOUBT she had ever heard of most of these characters. Just parroting what she's heard the haters saying on the 'webs.

There was too much jizz from the critics and the media all over Iron Man... for a good but not epic movie... for me to love it.
Watchmen was epic.

Yup. Weak script combined with some sub-par effects (the fight between Bullseye and Daredevil was particularly bad). It was almost like every thing they got right had to be counteracted with something horribly, horribly wrong.

I saw the movie before I read the comics. And yes, the movie defiantly needed a 'beefier' Ozymandius (perhaps the guy from Life and Band of Brothers... or the guy from Journeyman. just suggestions.)

However, I preferred the idea of a faux-Dr.Manhattan destruction of NYC rather than that weird faux-alien menace.
