so there are certain movies that I loved my whole life. When they were broadcast on newtork TV, pretty much everyone I knew would be in front of the TV watching that movie. For years movies like gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, and It's a wonderful life were like this.

In fact, when 'it's a wonderful life' went 'into the public domain' it was suddenly on four or five times a week, on various channels at various times. I made time, rearranged my schedule and sat my ass in front of that movie over and over again.

Then several years went by and it kinda vanished. I bought a copy three years ago. Guess how many times I've watched it?

Twice.

I figured out why ; Choice.

When It was on Tv rarely, I didn't really have too much choice about it - If I wanted to see it that year, I had to make time, make the effort, schedule things, rearrange my life. when I watched it, I'd get even more pleasure out of it than I ever did on DVD.

But now, Every time I think about maybe seeing it, I weigh it against all the other things I could be doing. I think about what I should be doing and what other things I have to do. Suddenly - BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS THERE - the 'need' to see it is less urgent, and frankly, it becomes almost zero priority. Even when it's on TV now, I don't take the time to view it, figuring that I can always see it 'later'.

I think this is what happens - when sex is scarce and you almost never see your girl, you get in the mood just being around her. If you only see her once a week, that's it. You move all your crap around and for those hours, it's just you and her. No Job, bills, parents , nothing else is going to interfere with the massive romance and screwing that will go on then.
