Adults should be good sports about Santa. Its a game. It lets kids believe in magic and the extraordinary and the 'what if' just a bit longer. But, it would just look silly for an adult to believe in these things. Ruining it is what poorer classmates are for.

I wish I were confrontational but alas, I'm not. I did tell her she should NEVER do that again. And I've had a long talk with my daughter about ruining Christmas for other kids and told her to remember how she felt and decide if she wanted to make another child feel that way.

When my son came home from school (age 9) and said the kids told him that Santa wasn't real, I looked him straight in the eye and told him that if he didn't believe in Santa that he would stop bringing presents.

He's 17 now, and still believes in Santa.

That's a really dick move. I had a neighbor do the same thing to me when I was six. He was an athiest, but that wasn't why he did it. He did it because he was a dick and a raging asshole. Hear that, Ray? You were a farking dick while you were alive and I'm glad you are dead. It's a shame you didn't believe in an afterlife, because you were a prime candidate for pineapple ass-raping hell.

Years ago when I worked in Radio, in a fairly small town with basically one station, we had a midday announcer who on the air talking about upcoming holiday activities in town said, "I remember when I was young and still though Santa was real". The mortification was actually visible on her face and on the receptionist's as well when the phones started ringing.

I still chuckle at that event.
