This sucks.

By the way, here's a question about the word "Hessian":

I grew up in Orange County CA in the '80s (cool story bra), and we often referred to longhaired metalhead-types as "Hessians". Was that a provincial colloquialism, or was that more widespread?

Let George III have Trenton - it's a shiathole. And the Crown will enjoy dealing that that loudmouth fatass Chris Christie.

Gov. Jon Corzine (who lost the election to Chris Christie) summed up New Jersey's problem definitively in a recent farewell speech to the League of Municipalities:

1. We have the same population as New York City (8 million)
2. New York City negotiates 1 contract with its teachers
3. New York City has 1 school administration
4. New Jersey does this 600 times for each town.

If we can't consolidate school administration to at least the 21 counties, it doesn't matter who gets elected as governor. Good luck to Chris Christie on destroying the teacher's union, because they're the root of all evil in this state and the reason our property taxes are so damn high.

That seems awfully inefficient. They should only do it 1 time for each town.

Yes, I'm aware of this. I'm speaking of the term "Hessian" being used as a synonym for metalhead.

Okay, in theory, it won't work, and it shouldn't work. The needs of, say, Newark are different from Vineland, or Toms River, or probably JC, or anywhere in Sussex. The needs of NYC, though are very similar from borough to borough; not to mention, it's a CITY government as opposed to a STATE one. Jersey is way too diverse a place to pin down to one plan on anything.

The mentality that having an all-controlling entity solve all its problems regardless of their massively divergent diversity is... well, you'd have to be pretty dumb to think that'd work.

Sort of like thinking a one size fits all Fedralized health care, education, welfare, etc, etc system is the answer for a population of over 300 million spread out over very diverse geological and economic locations.

Too bad he didn't address the problem while he was in office....the speech was more like a "Well too bad you didn't re-elect me cause I would have taken care of this probelm this time around"

And after the war, most of them actually stayed here in America. One of the reasons people of Germanic descent make up the single largest ethnic group of anyone in the US. More even than the Irish, English. Another reason it took us so long to jump into WWI and WWII, because so many had an aversion to fighting the 'fatherland', so to speak.
