"He said that government's limited job was to get the underlying incentives right so the market could figure out what innovations work best."

thank god for this man and his bootstrappy values. where would we be today without such rugged individualist ideology? ...oh right.

A little surprised to see the conservative columnist talking about what he did right and the liberal columnist talking about what he did wrong.

If you are a conservative, all you have to do is think of the alternatives that Obama will have to pick for Treasury instead of Timmay.

Thus, Timmy = the man.

Why Would I Read the Article 2009-11-20 07:47:11 PM
Geithner did right by his Goldman overlords, which is all he ever intended to do. He let their competitors fail, while still giving GS a $10 billion TARP payment (which they didn't need, but it was all under the guise of the "OHMYGOD WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING OR IT'S ANOTHER GREAT DEPRESSION!!" line of crap we were all fed), then watched as Goldman became the MM for 98% of all market trades, which literally was worth hundreds of billions to them.

So I'd say he got that part perfectly right. As far as the whole "saving the economy" thing goes (which was, ya know, his job), he kindasorta farked that up. Oh well, you win some, you lose some I guess.

How right you are. I mean it's not like any other president hired anyone because of cronyism, nepotism and whatever else kind of ism you can think of. IF we are finished it isn't because of the people who we think are doing a disservice to this country running it, it's because of people like you* who throw up your hands and complain about this country without... anything.

*you're probably just a low level troll and i've been hooked

......really? so if the country does fall down the drain because of debt/wars/USD collapse/ufo invasion - then it won't be politician's fault? but its complainers' fault...

I'll ignore the strawman.

I was replying to the above's assertion that because somehow because the present administration appointed someone that he/she doesn't like this country is finished. I understand that a lot of contemporary presidents have appointed questionable people, but it's up to the electorate to hold people that are elected feet to the fire.

So of course there are multitudes to blame IF this country fails, but to single out one person is asinine. Yes, I understand that other people have probably led the above to this conclusion, but to say it with that conviction is like complaining the person in front of you just littered after your boat, the Titanic, had hit an iceberg.
