I can't fault them for putting out a bland record, because it's not like any of them have much going for them individually, either. Slap a bunch of dull, uncreative, aging rockers into a studio, and you get dull, uncreative, aging rock.

Letting Dave Grohl anywhere near musical instruments, studios, or microphones inevitably leads to mundane crap, though. He was the weakest link in Nirvana, and that's saying a lot, since Nirvana sucked ass.

Im kinda looking forward to the retrospective on the music of the past decade, so we can sift out the garbage that came out and actually look back on the last 10 years for the good music it had.

If anything the sludge that passed for mainstream rock pushed people to discover smaller bands.

TCV is defiantly a last second contender for rock album of the decade, IMHO (I say contender, as It hasnt had the time to really sink in yet...) I mean... for the most part the last 9 years have been a sort of neo 80s filled with forgettable crap. (with some obvious exceptions.)

So I herby request early submissions for the Best Rock album of the decade with no number in the ten posion to make it easily identifiable.

Them Crooked Vultures: Them Crooked Vultures
Green Day: American Idiot (I prefered 21st century breakdown, but its hard to argue the influence of american idiot)

I listened to most of the cd and was completely disappointed. i love queens of the stone age, i love dave grohl but this cd just fell flat, to me. maybe it's the drums being sort of generic along with the riffs. elsewise it possibly has a 70s feel and I'm not at all a fan of 70s rock...

so long as qotsa puts out a new cd at some point.

TCV's first album is no masterpiece, it's a bit uneven, a bit homogenous, but there's some real winners: No One Loves Me, New Fang, Elephants (best groove on the album, robot rock reggae or some shiat, I dunno, it's unique and it swings like hell), Scumbag Blues, Warsaw (farking badass second half), Daffodils.

Also, live, JPJ and Grohl bring the thunder like nobody since JPJ and Bonzo.

I had very high hopes for this band... But after buying the album and giving it a few listens I am not too impressed. I like a few of the songs quite a bit, but for the most part the album is just filler in my opinion.
