It was over before it started. Just before the season began, the Knicks MSG announcers (Fraizer and Breen) were hosting the annual "welcome to the new season" special. They were already talking about what contracts go away after the season and what kind of salary cap space the Knicks will have next summer.

Not drafting Brandon Jennings may be biting them too?

/kinda a Bucks fan here
//thanks for making us relevant for at least 3 seasons!

Iverson is poison. By not signing him you show that you care, rather than the opposite.

Hasn't the free agent market for the following season been a big topic recently? Something about a large shakeup with free agents and team rosters?

The only thing the Knicks care about (along with a lot of other teams including the idiot Nets), is 2010. I can't wait to see Lebron James stay in Cleveland, Wade stay in Miami and then the Knicks bring over Chris Bosh who doesn't fit in with D'Antoni's system.

/If D'Antoni couldn't win a championship with the team he had in Phoenix, how will he win in NY?

FreakinB 2009-11-20 06:10:46 PM
Yeah, kinda knew that one going in. Looking long-term rather than short term. Sucks, but I get it. And I don't think Iverson really would've done anything.

That said, that comeback they had against the Pacers the other day was pretty sweet.

Caller to Boers and Bernstein show in Chicago this afternoon put it best: If you someone told you they could give you cancer for free, would you take it?

Yeah. Every Knicks fan is looking at Jordan Hill and doing the Homer Simpson.

Though to be fair, I didn't know what to make of Jennings. I was set on Rubio or Curry, unlikely as they were. Got angry when Curry went a pick before, and my exact words when they picked Hill were "I couldn't possibly be less excited about this."

yeah, the kids are much better off learning from Chris Duhon's vast array of skills and experience. what the hell is there to poison? what are they, one and nine?

signing Iverson for this season made a hell of a lot of sense for the Knicks. would have made them worth watching... would have opened up scoring opportunities for other players as defenses would have had to concentrate on Iverson...

the only reason this didn't happen is that 'Antoni is the gutless wonder of the NBA.

I would like to see the Cavs sign Bosh, and then re-sign LeBron. That's a team that would own this league for quite some time. I doubt it happens, but it'd be awesome.

Because AI is Mister Unselfish when it comes to pounding the ball & jacking up shots?

Because AI enjoys being a decoy on any play on the offensive side of the ball?

/Maybe you should wish for Isiah to come back because he would have signed AI for you.

Perhaps his teams won't get injuries or suspensions in the round they get eliminated one year.

hey, the Knicks aren't my team... but i might watch them if they signed Iverson. i'm sure as hell not going to watch Larry Hughes and Al Harrington jacking up all the shots.

the guy has averaged 27 points a game on 22 shots attempted over his career, throwing in over 6 assists a game. i think they can let him pound the ball for a season instead of settling for the pathetic crapfest they currently have going.

Because the road to the Eastern Conference Championship doesn't ever run through San Antonio?

Hard to believe this is the franchise of Walt Frazier, Willis Reed & Patrick Ewing. Horribly mismanaged.

skinink 2009-11-20 07:53:57 PM
Jeebus, the Knicks get rid of Isaiaiaih Thomas and Marbury and get a solid front office guy like Donnie Walsh, and the team still sucks? Maybe they should just let the Yankees organization control the team so they can be changed into winners.

Did anybody check Wikipedia to see if they're listed under November 20th deaths???

You know what would be awesome for the Knicks? Getting a great first round draft pick out of this.

Too bad it was traded to my Utah Jazz. Heh heh heh.

LoveRBS 2009-11-20 08:53:20 PM
0-12? Seriously?

If they wanna save money this season, why bother paying NBA players? Go hire the guys playing And One ball in The Cage for 100K a year

I bet they get a bigger audience than the Knicks do.

Bill Frist [TotalFark] 2009-11-20 09:43:42 PM
I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I think picking up AI was probably the smart move, but it might really hurt the player development. Not sure another shot-happy guy who needs the ball will help the kn icsk that much.

Did D'Antoni ever have his team for a championship? Amare or Joe Johnson or someone else always seemed to be injured or suspended
during the series.

I would bet any amount of money that LeBron with D"Antoni would bring a championship to New York. In fact, sebveral as long as leBron didnt' get injured.

All of the losing would be awesome if we had a draft pick next year.

Seriously. I wanted them to get AI merely so they wouldn't have some high lottery pick that went to the jazz

it's too bad. iverson would have been a perfect fit. he doesnt like practice and the knicks apparently dont practice ever.

The management and ownership has got to go.

Christ....

Oh please, the ONLY reason to get AI would be to sell tickets to games this year. AI wouldn't lead them to a championship. AI wouldn't help develop their younger players.

I have no problem getting AI for a year for a more fun season, but it is hardly some example of horrible management or ownership to stick with rebuilding over selling tickets.

It takes some balls to say this after Tim Donaghy's revelations. Or did you forget your sarcasm tag?
