Headline is 100% accurate, except for the "How much" part...I really don't think they care.

Why should I pay ESPN to read a Keith Law article?

Not at all, subby. It's like they say: If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it.

"They" including the Yankees.

I just read that Billy Beane plans to basically stay out of the FA market and maybe execute a couple of moderately pedestrian trades. Which means that unless Wallace, Carter (and possibly even Cardenas as well) hit well from opening day onward, the offense is bound to be even uglier that this year's. And yet it's the smart move.

Grumble.

who is the creme of the free agent market again this year? matt holiday (318 .387 .545 ) OF, adrian beltre (.270 .325 .453 ) 3b, maybe joey cora mif (277 .348 .369 )?

I saw a few lists was was really underwhelmed

C'mon Tribe, sign Omar!

/Wouldn't be a terrible signing, they could use a backup infielder.
//Lofton for outfield coach!
///They've already made Sandy their catcher's coach, and 1B coach

I love Sandy coming back, but when they sent out the opening day ticket announcement the other day it was sad when I realized that was the biggest move I expect them to make in the off-season.

I will never read Keith Law again. How can anyone read crap from a guy that thinks Chris Carpenter was not one of the 3 best pitchers in the NL in 2009. Is he crazy? 17-4 and led the league in ERA. Maybe he was 2nd to Lincecum. But Law gamed the ballot by putting Carpenter off the ballot to help Lincecum.

Subbitter

The Yanks already have everybody they need, but they're going to be like an obnoxious big brother(not unlike Buzz in Home Alone) and just snatch guys up so your lesser team can't have them. NOT YOURS, you stupid jugjug. THEN Girardi's going to give your manager an atomic wedgie all season long. Deal with it, dweeb.

/why yes, the new WS logo cap is very comfortable

This is the time of the year when the garage sale signs go up in the Pirates stadium. Anyone that wasn't traded before the deadline, get your things together and get ready to move. Oh, except you Mr I only hit 150 last year. You will be our star!

Pretty tough to be the 5th-highest payroll with a team in Michigan. What I wish they'd do is find the people who developed players for the Expos in the eighties and nineties and hire them. If you're going to eventually be a small market rust-belt team, might as well adopt a player development model.

Nonetheless, looking forward to lazy summer afternoons with a Tigers game on TV or radio...

I agree with you to a certain extent, but I also saw the point he was trying to get across. Javier Vazquez was criminally ignored this year and should have finished in the top three. He didn't have the run support that Wainwright and Carpenter did, and while I probably would have voted for Carpenter ahead of Vazquez, I'd have taken Vazquez over Wainwright. The four of them were all so close this year, though, that you really can't fault the guy too much for putting one of them fourth- someone had to be fourth, and for Law, it was Carpenter.
