It's the Leafs. This is definitely not news.

It was a highly entertaining third period. SRSLY.

Not as entertaining as the Sabres-Panthers game on Wed, seeing Florida score 4 in third was craziness.

Everything after this is redundant trifling detail, subby.

Or the Preds beating the Sharks and Devils in succession. 4 in a row, 8-2 over the last 10. Yes, I am surprised

So what is the record for the worst ever team in nhl history?

Single season worst and are the leafs approaching that type of epic fail yet?

LOL - Ya ask Boston about that after they pick #1 overall next year - and the year after that

Now, now Subby, let's give the Bruins their due. They gave up two leads last night, the second with 41 seconds to go in regulation, which, in fairness, is not as bad as the tying goal they gave up against Pitt with .4 seconds to go.

At least they managed to win in the shootout last night...

Worst season would be Washington Capitals, 1974-75. 8 wins - 67 losses - 5 ties - 21 points.

The first Carolina goal was pretty hilarious. Gustavsson stops a shot, it bounces as he dives. It's dead stopped on the ice at his feet. He's looking for it, Carolina swings in and scores. Watch the replay if you can.

Maybe. That was before 1 pt for an OT loss wasn't it though? Granted one point for a tie, but I wonder...

And as I said before, last night made my Oil heart smile.

Looked good in the first...lots of pressure, but they seemed to fall back into that lethargic, lackluster play they've been in for most of the season after that.

Tonight's going to be a tough one, too...

facisto: Leafs got screwed on an "intent to blow whistle" call that got a goal erased in overtime.

Horseshiat, and I'm a 35-year Leafs fan.

That was the correct call, and would have been a correct whistle. The only thing that screwed the Leafs was their own poor play.

It's games like last night's that make me will the Hamilton move was going to happen, because digging away at their market share is just about the only way to force Toronto to put out a quality product. With a fanbase of probably 10 million or more, and with probably 5 million of those living within an hour or two of your arena, it's too easy to fill 20,000 seats every game, so there's no incentive to improve.

FTFY.

But no matter how many goals Florida got in the 3rd, it's still just one loss.

Gotta bounce back against the Bruins tonight.

It's only fair. Earlier in the game, near as I could tell from the replay, he stopped a shot with his big brass balls.

bluetrain343: That was an entertaining game. My Canes looked like shiat for the first 37 minutes, and then suddenly a switch flipped.

No, not like shiat. They were playing well. They were owning the Leafs on their own power plays. They just seem to have the worst luck of any team I've ever seen in any sport. Beautiful shots through traffic clanging the pipes. Weird bounces, odd flips over sticks, sticks breaking or getting knocked out of their hands, Yelle deflecting for a score against us. Total crap luck.

Then that puck creeped out and sat there spinning in a flashback of the shootout from previously this week, only this time Yelle could get down there and slide face first down the ice to tap it in. It was like the hockey gods finally took pity.

Yeah, Sabers look tough this season. The most frustrating thing about the Bruins play for me lately has been their uncanny ability to lead everyone they play in shots-on-goal, but still lose. They seem to be incapable of getting a rebound.

Now which Flames fan on here was arguing to me prior to the season start that their defense had significantly improved this year?

vandenberg.: Uh... what about the high sticking call on Ian White? Awful call.

True, but still not really relevant. When you blow a 3-goal lead and let yourself be taken to a shootout with (let's be honest) run -of-the-mill goaltending, nitpicking a call or two ain't gonna tell you what happened.

Actually, as a Canes fan, I would agree that that call pretty much cost them the game. It allowed Gleason to tie it up the first time. Without hat goal, the Hurricanes don't even get it to OT, much less win.

Oh, and to the leafs, don't worry, we'll outsuck you by the end. And The one time best defensive forward in the league is on pace for coming close to the second worst single season +/-. Take THAT!

\Knee surgery hurt his game tremendously.

I mean you can call it 'nitpicking', but when its a blatantly wrong call, it goes a little beyond that.

The weakness was pretty broad on the T.O. end of that rink all night. I don't dispute that the call sucked, but I really think it's unrealistic to look at that whole game and claim it was lost on a single bad call.

After all, we're not Wings fans!

UncleStumpy 2009-11-21 05:49:57 AM
Oh mannnn that made my night. I hate Leaf fans more than anything.

It just cracks me up to no end when they claim that fans hate the Leafs becasue they are jealous. Jealous of what? Then they say "how many cups has your team won? I don't care if the Leafs won many cups fifty years ago. It's all about today...not fifty years ago.

And the straw that breaks the camels back is their propensity for booing quality players out of town. The Leaf fans feel they deserve the best, and I've never seen proof as to why they deserve "the best"
