i once had a mcd's employee tell me it was illegal for them to sell a burger before 10:30am. he seemed genuinely convinced i must have been an undercover inspector trying to bust him in some sort of "morning burger" sting or something

heh. having spent several years working third shift, i'll just say that sometimes the clock has little to do with which meal seems appropriate for a given time

there used to be a bar in town with a happy hour from 8-9am

I had a roommate who managed a McDonald's. She once told me that it's company policy to prepare any menu item at any time the store is open. Breakfast at 3PM? Lunch at 6AM? Do it. So while the employees might have been resistant, they would have made the order.

Any time that a fast-food employee shows resistance to making something, it's a sign that you don't want it. Unless you like booger sandwiches ;)

The best restaurants are the ones that stay open 24/7/365 and don't have separate breakfast, dinner and lunch menus. Like this one in my town (which I'm seriously jonesing for right now 'cos I'm 50 miles away at work and can't go there 'til Sunday).

/#25 (on menu page 4) minus the cheese, onions and sauce.

This. Pretty much the only time I eat McD's is the breakfast menu on a road trip - I like the standard original Egg McMuffin, an easy way to get a protein-containing breakfast on the go.

I'm just not a fan of the normal menu at all. If I'm going to get fast food, I'll pick another chain.

More related to TFA, I could certainly get myself stumbling over drunk in four hours, so I'm not sure just how this makes a defense.

Your wife was drunk and/or high and she killed people. Get used to the idea...saying "but but...she ordered Chicken Selects during breakfast!!" isn't going to override a toxicology report.

Douche.

I would never suggest doing this. Not because it wouldn't sell, but there are so many things that could go so horribly wrong. As a receipiant of an almost daily bombardment of partially digested McD's farts from a co-worker, it would be an inhumane act on the general public. If nothing else, the food should come with a complimentary gas mask for those around you.

I still have a hard time determining which is worse: broccoli farts or McD's breakfast farts (20 min into "digestion").

...ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

Damn it!... He's using the Chewbacca defense!
Cochran
Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests

And those damn sausage mcgriddles with cheese. Every self-loathing type II diabetic needs to choke down two before work for a good HBS ragin' at coworkers. Don't forget the hashbrowns and OJ...

I bet you weren't expecting the "She can't have been drunk; she talked McDonald's into making lunch during breakfast hours" defense

If the prosecutor doesn't bring up the phrase "charisma of a substance abuser" in response to this defense, I will be sorely disappointed.

But seriously, saying she ordered lunch at breakfast is one weak-assed defense. I am told McDs is great drunk food.

Daniel Boone's Farm 2009-11-20 01:22:37 PM
This story is too horrible to comprehend. I watched the video and I thought I saw her grab what looked like an orange juice. This reminded me of a friend who used to work at White Hen. He would open four of the small sunny d's behind the counter, dump half, pour the contents of a bottle of vodka in them, and line them up at the back of the cooler to sell to friends (or himself, as needed). If unsuspecting people came up he would make sure he checked the seal and tell them he would get them a new one if it was one of his sunny vodak drinks.

No idea what happened here but alcoholics are usually better drivers when drunk. The lost cell phone and confusion thing they reported is not typical of your modern stoner / vodakite, especially ones who are so skilled they imbibe before noon. Maybe she was an innocent victim. Maybe a murderer, though. Just a thought

"She was so engaging she was able to convince the McDonald's employees to make Bryan Schuler Chicken Selects at 9:40 in the morning."

Another interpretation: "She was so farking wasted that the McDonald's employees just gave her what she wanted so she'd get the hell out of their store."

And, as others have pointed out, her condition at 9:40am has absolutely no relation to her condition at 1:35pm. The whole thing is just stupid. The autopsy shows she was drunk and high at the time of the accident. Done. Over. Her character and condition earlier in the day are irrelevant. What is relevant is her condition at the time of the accident. Even if that's the only time she's ever drank or smoked in her entire life, it doesn't make her or any of the other people any less dead.

Andulamb 2009-11-20 01:29:45 PM
Seems like a fun trial for the plaintiff attorneys. During their phase of the trial, they simply stipulate to the woman being sober at 9:40 in the morning, then put an expert on the stand who can testify to how little time is needed for the woman, based on her weight and whatever, to become as drunk and high as the autopsy shows she was. If it only would have taken 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, whatever, it seems to me the defense would look foolish presenting evidence as to the woman's condition in the morning.

But I don't even understand why it matters whether or not the woman was drunk or high. Is there proof that she was going the wrong way on the Taconic? If so, isn't that all the plaintiff attorneys need? Doesn't going the wrong way make the accident her fault regardless of WHY she was going the wrong way?
