Well, you can learn both at the same time. I know I did.

I grew up listening both spanish and english, and it made it easier for me to think on both languages. Now, I'm trying to learn a third (it's harder once you get older), french is in the similar root of spanish, but there are bits (quite a few) that are a biatch to learn right.

Now, my english may not be perfect (don't ask me about the grammar rules, I remember them when I see the examples), but I'll write it and speak it decently, and try to hide any accent if possible.

/Also, I envy a few people that can speak more than two languages well

Pretty sure that's universal. I'm pretty sure the farkette's do it too.

The Chinese start with English in first grade. Rich Chinese kids start even earlier than that, some before they can speak Chinese. As anyone who has been to China will tell you: it doesn't help. Learn your own language first.

These guys are being kind of naive. English is under no threat from Chinese as the go-to language of international business, which is actually not the reason why most people learn English in the first place.

They learn it so they can watch new television shows, new movies and read websites and new books in English. They don't have to wait for a Swedish Harry Potter to come out, for example, they can just ship right to the store in Uppsala in English and still sell out at the same rate they would were it in Swedish.

Its the same in Norway and Finland too.
