Um, you've never heard of Facebook, Myspace, Twitter? Anything and everything she says, even without media presence, is going to be seen and heard.

Because then she'll have even more of an excuse to go on Fox and whine. Not banning her appearance, but banning media coverage of it, is the least bad way to handle it if the goal is to deflect attention of the event.

Because political grandstanding on a military base is, of course, patriotic.

All right, I'm going to have to spell this out I think. I don't care that she's talking. I care that she's talking on a military base and since we already know she's going to rail against our commander-in-chief (probably for using the military as a photo-op while using the military as a photo-op), but I care that she's going to rail against the commander-in-chief on a military base and instead of the military telling her not to do that, to not use the troops to make a point, they just don't allow reporters on the base. That is a passive endorsement of her points because they didn't ask her not to make them, implying they have no problem with them. Do you have a problem using troops to make a political point? Because that's what she's doing. THAT'S why I have a problem with this.

Isn't it illegal for anyone to hold anti Commander-in-Chief rallys on a military base?

Not only is she going to hold a book signing at Fort Bragg, she is also going to hold one at Fort Hood, Texas.

What is she doing on military bases in the first place? She is not in the military, she is an unemployed ex-gov. SHE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE ON THE BASE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

* charcharczar's diary :: ::

Army officials plan to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg on Monday, saying they fear the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Obama, the Associated Press reports.

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum tells the AP that Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book promotion at the North Carolina base.

Other members of the public would be permitted to attend.

McCollum says the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."

Palin is on a book tour this week to promote her memoir Going Rogue. She is scheduled to visit Fort Hood, in Texas, on Dec. 4.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/...

Would Michael Moore ever be allowed to hold a book signing on a military base? What about John Edwards, Al Gore, even Colin Powell would not be allowed to have press conferences. Who ever approved this should be FIRED, Palin is going to hold an anti-Commander-in-chief rally on a military base. That is complete craziness. It may also be against the law...Sarah Palin is a civilian, she should not be allowed onto a military installation.

The entire article is a strawman that doesn't show any proof of what she is going to say, and then says stupid crap about "would we let Mike Moore do this?". I pointed out Franken because yes indeed, we do let people with opposing views on base. You two are knee jerk dickwads that are the perfect tard audience the article was trying to appeal to. Congrats. You two showed your true colors that you believe that dissenting opinions are something to be abolished if they dare question the current dumbass douchebag in chief.

First of all, Sara Palin the 'tard, the kid is a special needs child.

The liberal conspiracy wacko in me suspects that the fundamental right wing group is attempting to organize a coup against the United States Government. Considering that her husband was part of an anti-american secessionist group, it's within the realm of possibility. The media restriction would lessen the chance of identification of the high ups who meet with Sara.

But in the end, thats just foolishness: I would be no better than 9/11 Bush Conspiracy nuts , Birthers, or Palin supporters.

If she's just signing books and not speaking, I'm not concerned.

which appears to be an update from the AP:

The U.S. Army will allow the media limited coverage of Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg, but will bar reporters from interviewing her or her supporters on the post, officials said Thursday.

A Fort Bragg spokesman initially said the Army would ban the media from Palin's book signing next week, fearing it would turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama. After The Associated Press and The Fayetteville Observer protested, Col. Billy Buckner said the post would permit restricted access.

How is a USO tour even closely comparable to the issues that surround Palin book touring bases? And how is it comparable to Michael Moore book touring bases?

Fairly often. Just a few weeks ago they had some MMA fighter (and army reservist) here signing his book and shilling his exercise program/protein supplement. When I was in South Korea, Jared (from Subway) came to visit and promote stuff.

And yes, Al Franken did USO tours. I never saw them, but from what I've heard it was pretty tame soldier standbys, like "Man, being in the army sucks!" and "MREs make you constipated," not "Bush is evil, it's his fault you're here."

The article is at the same time being very stupid and bringing up a good point. Palin is obviously gunning for a presidential bid. Did the army let Obama go round pushing The Audacity of Hope on military bases in 2006? That would've been a better comparison. I don't know, I didn't join until the following year. The article goes about making this point in the single most idiotic way possible though, building a ridiculous straw man when there is actually a legitimate target right in front of it.

True, but she is first and foremost an attention whore. So, imagine what things she would do in order to get attention once people started to ignore her. She would probably nail yourself to a cross in order for people to look at her or end up suing Sarah Palin for wrongly persecuting and attacking Sarah Palin.
