Is there some sort of law about importing water pipes? I'm pretty sure the sale of water pipes is legal in the United States as I have purchased several from several different states...

Why did they put a paper with Department of Homeland Security there in the background? Are they afraid that somebody else would steal their credit for confiscating this?

If people stopped using bongs and started using Sherlock Holmes pipes instead, would they get confiscated at the border and bongs be let thru?

Yay for Pittsburgh, again.

However, for those in the neighborhood, I hear those in need should stop at Trader Jack's.

GRagrgargagrr. The bongs are legal, and probably will be returned. But someone's gonna pay for trying to evade the import tax. And that's prolly a lot of tax, too.

Only if you let them.

The government can stomp one man, imprison thousands, but if everybody tells them to bite the wax tadpole at the same time they're powerless to stop it.

since bongs are "tobacco" smoking paraphinalia they have tax requirements that xmas ornaments wouldn't.

I don't know anyone that uses bongs for tobacco, but that is another story.

That's ok. The pot smokers will make do. There is nobody more ingenious than a stoner who needs a bong water pipe RIGHT NOW.

You get those filthy marijuana smokers USC&BP! Yeah!

Otherwise, could you imagine the chaos and evil that would go on if those bongs ever got sold? For example... umm.... well...

This is kind of a waste of government resources, isn't it?

Timdesuyo: GRagrgargagrr. The bongs are legal, and probably will be returned. But someone's gonna pay for trying to evade the import tax. And that's prolly a lot of tax, too.

Water pipes are not legal according to the Feds. Look up Operation Headhunter and Operation Pipe Dreams. This is the operation that sent Tommy Chong to jail. Of course, he got off light. When they searched his studio, they found a pound of marijuana. The federal government considers water pipes to be paraphernalia. Now, depending on your state, water pipes may be legal there. These will not be returned. I run a smoke shop and I've known distributors that have imported. From time to time shipments get seized. It's the cost of doing business.

We do have some great local blowers. The appeal of imported class is that it's usually been of decent quality at a fourth of the price.

Dreyelle 2009-11-20 10:11:13 AM
TsuDohNim: The appeal of imported class is that it's usually been of decent quality at a fourth of the price.

Thank god the dept of homeland security picked those up. I know I would feel safer.

Anyone smoke out of a gear bong? Pretty nice pieces, filtered through water three times. Your tobacco of course, none of that devil weed, that stuff is illegal.

So do you think if a shipment of soldering irons was seized because the manifest said "Phillips Screwdrivers" this would be newsworthy? It's a glorification of a dinky little bust that no one cares about.

I think it was funnier the first time...ha.

I'm all for taxation of water pipes, which I think is what was really going on (tax evasion)

/closest thing to a pot thread today :)

Anyone out there vaporize? Hear it's quite awesome, and much better than water pipes.
