My only DUI I was under the limit. (Still convicted in bf, VA.)

FTFA:

...says Jodi Seth, spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Democrat. "Senator Kerry supports his daughter and will have no further comment on a private matter."

It's not a private matter....she could have been drunk driving, and it's a damn good thing she didn't hit another driver or a pedestrian. Medical conditions, family troubles, etc....those are private matters.

That being said, I just hope she receives the same treatment I would if I were to get pulled over by the cops and suspected of a DUI....no more, no less.

ivan 2009-11-19 06:38:03 PM
Bet she was when she picked this not-work-safe dress.

Uh, except that she was pulled over for an expired registration, and then passed a breathalyzer. So basically her crime is not renewing her registration. ALERT THE MEDIA

That means she was still capable of informed consent. Giggity.

IIRC, there are some states that can charge you with a DUI even if you pass the breathalizer test, but I don't know if California is one of them.

Granted, she wasn't pulled over for weaving her car over the road, but it's just like a cop can nail me for a DUI if he pulls me over for a broken light, and I smell like Maker's Mark.

Get back to me when nose picking kills innocent people.

I was just talking about the "private matter" quote because it's one of the biggest cop-outs in history.

I had half a mind to go find some evidence to the contrary, but I decided any evidence I might find would be much too icky.

It's a state matter, sure. Once the state's disposed of it and the media jackals played their story out (and if you don't think the media would rather do 6 Alexandra Kerry stories than ONE 5-minute report on health insurance reform proposals, I want some of your drugs), they'll respect the Senator's wishes that his daughter not be made a pariah.

It should be a private matter between a private citizen and the state - just like all you farkers' DUIs. Her dad's the public figure; ridicule him some more.

The real question here is, why would someone let someone else pick their nose?

Um, I know. As a private citizen, Alexandra Kerry should be left the fark alone by the media until such time as her dad uses her as a political prop (see also: Palin, Sarah/Bristol/Trig/Trapper Keeper).

I think we all know that today's reporting would prefer a Senator's daughter DUI story over an actual investigative report on health insurance reform proposals. I don't like it, I just expect it.

Why so defensive?

If she was released without a DUI charge then why did she have to post $5k bail?

.08 is really not that much. 1 drink in an hour is about .08, depending on your weight and your liver, etc...

Same reason a Guardsman buddy of mine had to have his wife's family put up their house for a $50k bond on a weapons charge (dude went outside with a 9mm in his pocket after hearing shots; the Guardsman tied a tourniquet on the victim, saving his life. When Baltimore cops showed up and started asking questions, he told them about his gun, whereupon they arrested him and kept him in the clink for 26 hours).

Their families ended up wasting a combined $5k on a bogus charge (that the state null proc'ed).

They'll take your money because they can.

Yeah but they also suspected her of being drunk, so she was already at the jail. The prolly dropped the charges of DUI and kept the other charges.
