A few months ago I rented the Blu-Rays starting with Episode 1 and working my way through. I really got into it, but I can't imagine how the fans were able to stand it being drawn out so long without getting to know what happens next.

Plus, watching them one after another, it makes a lot more sense.

ShawnDoc [TotalFark] 2009-11-19 06:53:44 PM
Which you know makes sense. He wasn't a regular cast member last season either if I remember. Just a guest/recurring character.

And that headline is a little spoilerish.

Shame, Desmond might be the show's best character.

It is interesting that Richard and Claire are listed as full-time cast members. Especially Claire. She's been gone forever.

I kind of expected (or maybe "hoped" is a better word) that Richard and Ilana would play bigger roles in season 6. Claire being listed as full-time is a little surprising though - I was starting to think that they weren't going to resolve that whole thing

Well they sort of have to. She's tied in to so many storylines.

Yeah, but I was thinking that she might kinda be out in the jungle and alluded to but would not have a major role. I'm glad they didn't go that way though. I think it will make the story better to have her as a full-time character

Well, here's my prediction for what happens:

The bomb worked. It resets time. They land in LAX, and everyone goes on with their lives. No one knows anything about the island or anything of the last 5 seasons. Except Desmond. He found his constant. He's the one who can break the rules of time. He remembers everything. And he goes about fixing it.

That's my thought. I don't know where it goes from there, but that's my completely spoiler-free speculation. And it brings back Claire in, pregnant again.

Way back when, a buddy lent me the graphic novel treatment of "Watchmen". I devoured it in a couple of days. He envied me, because he'd gotten into it when it was issued in monthly installments.

So, as someone who has watched Lost since the pilot, I know how he felt, and how you feel. Either way, though, it's worth it.

They said at the beginning of last season that she wouldn't be on the show, but would be back in a major way for Season 6

Count me with those who are saying "Yeah, he's never been a series regular".

Also, damn you for reminding me that Lost exists, Fark! I've already listened to all of the podcasts from the Producers (Lindelof and Cuse) enough times to memorize them, and don't want to look at spoilers. This shiat is ridiculous, the amount of time to wait.

Ah well, at least it's not like when I had to wait 2 years for a new Sopranos season.

What about Mr. Eko, we can't wrap this thing up properly without Mr. Eko.

And an explanation for why Walt makes birds kamikaze into windows.

I know we Losties are hardcore one way or the other. Want to know EVERYTHING before it happens (like me), or will kill a person for giving away the name of a new character (like most of the other Losties I know).

So I respect that. If you wanna know anything else, EIP.

I'm definitely the latter. I almost got mad at this headline for being too spoilery.

Narcolepsy: What about Mr. Eko

He has publicly said he would be happy to come back this season. But (as of a few weeks ago) hadn\'t been approached. Although, there\'s only one person they HAVE approached who has said no. Almost everyone seems to want to come back.

========================================

They mentioned (many times) they were placing her on a contract hold last season and that she wasn't going appear and then reappear for the final season full-time. Granted, she wasn't around much before either... but without Aaron I think she'll be around a lot more (depending on what the storylines are).

Desmond, however, WAS a series regular last season but didn't appear much. He's simply been 'officially' demoted, but he'll still appear.

However, I'm stocked that both Nestor and Jeff Fahey are now regulars. I love 'em both (esp the latter!). Frank is awesome.

DamnYankees: It is interesting that Richard and Claire are listed as full-time cast members. Especially Claire. She's been gone forever.

They've been filming scenes with Claire the entire time.

Just because you haven't seen them yet, doesn't mean she's been out of work.

naughtyrev 2009-11-19 10:35:56 PM
DNRTA, and it could throw this thought completely out, but I've always felt that Des and Penelope were the story, and everyone else was there to make sure that story line worked out (obviously since season 2 on, I mean). It is just a reinterpretation of the Odyssey. Even if they are only minor characters in this season, I suspect that they will be there in the end to close the story out.

nonvideas 2009-11-19 10:41:18 PM
There's no way in hell the bomb worked. Not the way Jack "thought" it would, at least.

Chuckie2d0pe 2009-11-19 10:54:33 PM
jake3988: Nestor

He said a couple weeks ago he's contracted for something like 14 of the last 18 hours.

Heroic Poser 2009-11-19 11:04:35 PM
Shame.
I REALLY liked his and Penny's storyline way, way WAAAAYY more than I even cared about Jack/Kate/Sawyer.

Just prove to me Adam and Eve are Rose and Bernard.
Thas' all I ask.

if_i_really_have_to 2009-11-19 11:09:22 PM
I'm currently rewatching it all as I do before every new season starts, and seeing it all together just emphasises to me that Jack and Kate are both complete arses who didn't learn a damn thing on the island.

Jack swung from condescending, insecure daddy-issue, dry-alcoholic megalomaniac to condescending, insecure passive-aggressive, wet-alcoholic megalomaniac.

He was clearly happy pre-island to both emotionally and physically abuse women (throwing the Thai chick against the wall because she won't do what he says! stalking his ex-wife!), and after the island he continues in this pattern with Kate, attempting to control her actions, forcing her to tell him everywhere she goes and everyone she talks to. Sure, he hasn't started hitting her yet, but he uses his superior size and obvious barely-controlled rage to physically intimidate her. Good on her for throwing him out before he did start using actual violence.

That guy's a catch, I can see why so many emotionally-damaged Lost fangirls are all atwitter for him.

And Kate went from self-centred manipulative biatch to self-centred manipulative biatch who decides to recast herself as glorious mother martyr. Whether it's murder or flashing her tits to get what she wants, nothing Kate does is ever, ever wrong to her mind. She will not think twice about screwing up other peoples' lives if it means she gets what she wants.

Are there any other characters on the show who so completely failed to make any emotional progress?

Every season they disappoint me by not killing them off. But then, if they didn't have Jack and Kate farking up everything they touch then quite a few less things would have gone horribly wrong, making the show more boring.

Hmm, interesting.

10 of the full-time cast members were on the plane.

The first episode is called LA X.

My guess is that the plane does get to LA, but crashes on the runway. Those ten are the only survivors.

I want to know what's up with the color Black vs. the color White. It seems like a fairly easy thing to throw in here and there, but when I started watching from the beginning, these two colors just keep popping up in subtle ways:

-The black and white rocks found on Adam & Eve
-Locke teaching Walt how to play Backgammon. "One player is light, one is dark"
-Locke's eyes when Claire has one of her nightmares. One of his eyes is pure white, the other is pitch black
-The LOST title text.
-Jacob and Esau's choice of clothing

I wonder if it'll add up to anything. Here's a full list of B&W occurrences if you're interested (new window), and it probably is just good old fashioned symbolism, but it's fun to keep an eye out for these two colors. Maybe i'll create a new drinking game for it to go along with the Sawyer Game.

/take a shot or a bong rip every time they mention Sawyer, or one additional regular castmember, to be picked before each episode begins.

I still haven't seen season 5. It's not on netflix instant yet. That was the ONLY way to watch that show: Marathon of seasons to keep up with the plot.
