But an under-funded, largely volunteer-run grassroots organization that registers poor minorities for the vote and can barely keep the lights on at its inner-city offices was more than capable of yoinking it for Obama?

"Republican" is just synonymous with "hypocrite" now.

And I will do nothing to discourage this belief, because for all the time you spend going on and on about ACORN, you spend less time ruining the country.

It's quite an interesting study in a meme though. I never even heard about ACORN until last year, probably the same for most of the guys asked. It shows you how effective Fox has been at getting out this story.

seriously, though, i wonder how they think it happened. voter registration fraud ≠ voter fraud. you can register mickey mouse a thousand times - it doesn't mean he'll vote even once. and ACORN was bound by law to report those bad registrations.

my theory: 20% of the american electorate self-identifies as republican. that number alone requires a near palin/beck level of wingnuttery. then you cut than number by nearly half and you have the basement-dwelling, mouth-breathing, spittle-flecked, red-faced über republicans. the ones who change their depends every ten minutes after shiatting themselves from a new GOP terror point (ZOMG TERROR TRIALS IN NYC!!! *poooooooohhhhhh*).

On election day 2008, I went out to vote for McCain/Palin. they asked the question because it is relevant.
the fact that such a large number of people believe something which is basically INSANE and patently false only proves that the question was "valid" or relevant.

would have be interesting if they had asked the same people if in 2000 they thought that bush had stole the election or if diebold had stole the 2004 election in ohio for bush.
