Eagles suck now, have sucked, always will suck. Just like the city they are located in.

/Rocky sucks too
//likes the Flyers though, solid fan base who beat the crap out of opposing fans, which is hilarious in a parking lot and yet completely terrifying as well

I think a lot of Jets and Chiefs fans over the years said "It would be GOOD if HERMAN EDWARDS had never learned about FOOTBALL."

Number 82's celebration at 1:27-1:31 is hilarious. The Eagles suck this year but they're going to maul the bears Sunday. It will give Philadelphia just enough hope that they don't suck until they forget how to run the ball and get their asses handed to them a few weeks from now.

The Ealges season is already down the drain. With their loss to the Cowboys, they're 0-1 so far this season. But then I consider 2-14 to be a successs, as long as they beat the Cowboys twice.

As a Giants fan i was not alive to feel the pain of that day but i did have to sit through the Dave Brown QB era and the Ron Dayne experiment. Oh and Dan Reeves as a head coach. Got my fan dues in.

Off topic but..the late Giants "GIANTS" logo should be used as the throwback for whenever the Giants use their throwback unis. Not the stupid Red, sign of weakness/period blood" jerseys that always wear.

Carl agrees(to lazy to find link)

Well, why don't you tell that to everyone who's saying Bill Belichick made one hell of a stupid decision by running a play instead of punting. It looked to me like he was playing to win the game, even if it failed.

As a young 10 year old Giants fan I was watching on TV, it was painful. Of course there were a lot of painful years back then. BUT, at least I wasn't a Cowboy, Redskin, of Eagles fan.

Herm Edwards was on NFL Live and said giving the ball to Peyton at the 28 is not "playing to win the game." The play TO win the game was punting, to him.

Schmee 2009-11-19 08:39:24 PM
If I had the chance of making a first down, or giving the ball to Peyton Manning leading by less than a touchdown (even if it were 60 yards away from the goal line) and about two minutes left, I'd go for the first down. Every time.

Yeah the Redskins are a worse team now, WAY worse, but they have three super bowl trophies. So do the Giants. The Cowboys have five.

How many do the Eagles have?

At best you will be remembered like the Kelly Bills, a team with a bunch of talent that had a wide window in the 00s they chocked away.

PopeSchmope: Wikipedia explains it. [citation needed]

That's a pretty good explanation. It's implied in that article but more fully explained in the main MATM article (pops):

After a running play on first down, Pisarcik knelt on second. Eagles middle linebacker Bill Bergey had charged into Giants' center Jim Clack, knocking him backward into Pisarcik, in a desperate attempt to force a fumble. Since defensive players usually are not blocked in this situation, they usually in turn don't rush. Offensive players consider any breach of this tacit agreement as a provocation, particularly linemen whose job it is to protect the quarterback. This provocation is invariably met with fists or other attempts to start a fight.

Gibson didn't want to expose his quarterback to further risk of injury (he had already taken some hits earlier in the season).

yeah and lose in the NFC championship normally. They are the JV Buffalo Bills, at least the Bills made consecutive returns to the super bowl. And they only made it to the super bowl that one year because of T.O. McNabb is terrible now and was terrible before. But I will give Eagle fans some credit. They are much better at staying by the team through thick and thin than 76er fans. They are the worst. Before they were somewhat talented and made it to the playoffs and finals in the early 2000s no one in PA gave a crap about them. Then all of a sudden we had 76er coverage non-stop.

Not really. I remember the threat of TV blackouts being a recurring local drama in Philly in Andy Reid's first year. The season opener was blacked out and IIRC it took some City Council intervention to get the games on TV the rest of the year. Then the team got good and Eagles fans started going to games again, and without fail will tell you how much they stick by their team no matter how bad it gets. I've brought up the '99 blackouts thing to some Eagles fans who literally refuse to believe any of that actually happened.

Who cares. The Eagles won 3 NFL championships. Doesn't matter.

It's the past.

What does any of this have to do with the present versus the past. You live vicariously in the present?

If you don't care about sports or how your team does thats fine, but it has nothing to do with your argument about the past.

The Packers fanbase on Fark has never been the same. It was huge and it did nothing but talk smack all week leading up to that game. Now I'd be hardpressed to name one Packers fan around here.
