Brohm had great numbers in college...however, that doesn't necessarily translate into NFL success (i.e. Ryan Leaf).

He was on the practice squad for a reason, that reason being he regressed majorly. The Bills were better off with Hamdan.

The Bills don't need Peyton Manning or Tom Brady (well, yes they do) to win football games. Buffalo is one of the toughest places to play football in the winter months, so I, personally, would like to see them focus on the defensive side of the ball and try to become an elite defense. On the offensive side, they currently have Jackson and Lynch - the two of them could really be effective if the OC could actually call a decent game.

People remember the Bills of the 1990s for guys like Kelly, Thomas, and Reid. But, those teams were great because they dedicated themselves to playing good, hard defense. In my opinion, if you want to win in the Northeast, that's the only way to go. That's why Pittsburgh can contend EVERY year, and that's also why New England has been so successful.

That is actually only partly true.
In both the 1991 and 1993 seasons the Bills had the 27th ranked defense in the league, and just rolled over teams by out scoring them.

Also, I have to say I really like the move to get Brohm. I think it is a low risk/high reward type situation.
Sit him on the bench, let him learn, and let the team build their line. Brohm has the potential, and possibly if they groom him right, we could have a serviceable quarterback, which unfortunately is more than can be said for Fitz. Still have hope that the new coach can undo the problems done to Edwards, but we'll see.

Chunks McGunks 2009-11-19 05:12:40 PM
I remember some good games at the liberty bowl when brohm would throw for a touchdown about every drive and then DeAngelo would return the favor with one on the ground for the Tigers. Even though we lost to louisville most years DeAngelo was here it was the best team Memphis has had in my lifetime and I guess really that's just kind of sad but our defense always was god awful so I don't predict Brohm's going to have any games like those UL vs U of M games he had in college.

I would like to see what Shanahan can do with Beast Mode before pinning my hopes on some scrub QB from Green Bay.

Sure he looked like total sh*t every time he stepped on the field, even in preseason, and was outplayed by a 7th rounder that was drafted in the same year he was drafted 2nd...but at least now maybe he can salvage his bro-ken dreams.
