She has watched the video a handful of times and does not recognize herself... "I look at it and I'm like, 'That is not me... I have so much regret. I can't believe I did that."

"I definitely feel because I am a female it did bring about a lot more attention than if a male were to do it,"

Yeah, nobody makes a big deal when guys take cheap shots at each other. Post-game punches, eye-gouging, chop blocks... those have no consequences at all for men.

Also, if a male soccer player were to do anything more physical than flop on the ground like a freshly caught trout it would be front-page news.

Because people like Vinnie Jones didn't get reported on constantly and lots of media attention...

/How the fark was that biatch not redcarded after the first 10 attacks?

if it were just the pony tail pull, maybe. if it were just the completely vicious and irresponsible slide tackle from behind, maybe. if it were just the punch in the back, perhaps. if it were just the kicking of the ball in the face of the girl that was down, eh, i'll give it to ya.

but all of those? fark you, lady.

/should have to sit out when you're on your period if you can't control your lady problems.

I'm actually more surprised no one on BYU came over and laid her out.

If the referee Joe Pimentel had issued more yellow cards or a red card, Lambert said, "It would have been a very different game."

Oh, I see honey, it's the ref's fault for not stopping you from being a horrible biatch. Of course.

I don't know if I want to pity or congratulate her boyfriend (girlfriend? Could be either). She must be really crazy in the sack.

In one of the videos, the rather cute blonde BYU player can be seen just saying "scoreboard" to her, and Lambert is visibly put off by it. Easily the most satisfying part of the whole game.

Wow. What a c*nt. As the commentator was saying, there's spirited play, rough play and just plain psycho b*tch play. There's a not-so-fine line between a hard tackle or a push and yanking someone down by their ponytail. She can be as confused as she wants to be by her actions, but she shouldn't have done them to begin with. She showed what she's made of on the pitch, and no amount of remorse is going to change what she did. But at least she seems to recognize that she messed up, though I doubt that'd be the case without all the publicity. That her apology came with qualifiers points to that.

Sassy. I like.

Also, I love youtube commenters... truly the lowest common denominator

"ive seen pro men in world cup qualifiers and in world cup action receive a red card for much less. maybe though they got red carded because they can control their bodies much better than women who are because of their gender less coordinated."

Dafatone 2009-11-19 01:26:33 PM
She's right. Her being a woman puts all this in a different light, and people don't expect women's sports to be as violent or physical.

That being said, she still should have been tossed from the game WAY before most of these things even happened.

This.

That ref should never be allowed to officiate again. How the hell he didn't give her at least a yellow card for that is baffling.

"I look at it and I'm like, 'That is not me,' " said Lambert, a defender and an all-conference academic player. "I have so much regret. I can't believe I did that."

Look lady, we all know you're a thug. No one is buying your apology, so you might as well take pride in your thuggery like this guy.

Seriously, finally someone had the guts to say it. Us men have such a hard time getting publicity and TV times for this like this, girls don't even know.

Really though, I seem to remember a certain headbutt from a few years back that's now immortal...

Dr_Retriever 2009-11-19 01:33:22 PM
Some of her actions - like the apparent punch, which she said was inadvertent - were misinterpreted or taken out of context on a condensed video, Lambert said

inadvertent???? Misinterpreted???? How the hell do you take "almost snapping someone's head off by yanking a pony tail" out of context. BYU chick needs to file assault charges

She said she was taken aback at how the incident had been perceived by some as sexy catfighting between two women. She said she was aghast that some men had sent her messages saying, "Hey, we should meet up some time."

What's his Fark handle? Who's owning up to this?

If she had said "The f*ing biatch was just pissing me off" I would have accepted that as a reasonable explanation from a defensive player and moved on.

Not sure if you are serious. You can shred someone's knee by tackling them from behind. That is why it is a red card offense.

This is the same reason, btw, that the NFL doesn't allow players to do it either.

i saw one cheap shot from BYU, and a series of madness from this chick.

anyway, yes, getting blindsided under the knee when you're not ready for it can ruin that leg for life. even if it's a knee replacement, i'd call that crippling.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that Waltzing Mathilda was referring to the tackle, not the hair pull. My mistake.

He's not talking about the hair pull. While dirty, that wasn't *that* big of a deal honestly (and looked a little bit embelished by the BYU player). The potentially-crippling tackle was the one from behind on #5 of BYU. Should have been a yellow card at the minimum.

While this New Mexico player deserved to be kicked out from that game, I'm still not sure there was anything in the game that really merited all this national news attention. Soccer's a violent game and there's a lot going on where the refs couldn't possibly see everything while still following the ball. I'm not saying stuff like this happens all the time, but it's far from unheard of...for both men's & women's game.

The elbow and retaliation is something that happens all the freakin' time, and a couple of those were just poor tackling. One of the later ones is a clear where she's obviously off-balance and gets her hand in a BYU player's face while trying to stay upright. It could easily have been back-and-forth and ESPN just took the easiest route - villifying one side.

The ponytail should've been a red though, and the tackle from behind should've been at least a yellow. That ref did a helluva job letting the game get out of hand.
