I voted for this article because it is true. Windows does not give you the reliability and efficiency that can only be seen in a Mac.

Making service employees dance is the saddest most pathetic thing ever.

I had to close the window. That was just painful to watch.

That being said, Windows 7 loads faster on my computer than OS X does on any number of Macs I've used.

Meanwhile, in the Apple Store across the hall, the employees were too busy actually helping people to point and laugh.

As someone who finds Mac people annoying, it's hard to overstate how lame that was.

Almost nobody in the store was even paying attention.

It's funny because the song is about "partying down" yet after the songs is over they'd likely have to go back to showing an octogenarian how to install the correct printer driver. Off the hook dudes.

Oh, by the way. I ditched my iMac, and installed Windows 7 on my Dell. Not only does it boot faster than any other operating system EVAR, I am 3 inches taller and I lost 40 pounds.

Yea, they spend an inordinate amount of time unbricking iphones.

break into dance?

The electric slide? Really?

Wow, what amazing choreography. Like that didn't take less than 20 seconds to plan.

If that's how much effort the staff puts into a flash mob, then they really don't care about their merchandise after all.

Screw Windows 7, from the time it takes me to press the power button on my computer, it takes 27 seconds to get on Fark and I'm running XP.

If they don't knock that crap off and start selling some stuff, they can dance their butt over to the unemployment line.

Yes, for their own sake.

Also lets start telling people about those overly faded jeans. As if faded jeans didn't make you enough a douche you have to step it up? The only people wearing those anymore are 35 year old white trash cougars trying to look like their teenage daughter.

Enough!!

Wow. Just wow.

The electric slide != dancing.
What I find really disturbing is the notion of a Microsoft store.
What an embarrassment in terms of ripping off an Apple store. That was excruciatingly painful.

And I'm not a Mac owner or user. (IBM Thinkpad).

Microsoft... words fail.

1. That songs sucks - enough "impromptu" dance routines to it
2. Gotta' love how none of the customers seem to care
3. Female employee in the green shirt makes the video somewhat watchable

Microsoft has stores?!?!?! Since when?

(Been running XP Pro for years and am 89% 'ok' with it)

As if it weren't obvious enough already, the YouTube caption gives the ruse away. Microsoft trying its hand at this whole "social networking" thing. Painful on all fronts.

TheMega 2009-11-19 10:02:41 PM
I would love to be in a store when this happened... I'd immediately grab 2 of the most expensive laptops and head toward the register to check out, pull out my wallet and keep looking back at the idiots... then say forget it once rang up, "Sorry, but this distraction is just too irritating.." and walk out.

Naturally, MAC doesn't actually give you anything worth running... soooo, you don't really have to worry about installing anything that may not be 100% stable. So, have at the, uhh, computer I guess you would call it. At least you can surf the Net. (my cell phone can do that, too though)

IgG4: Huh?

Apple had previously agreed to license certain parts of its GUI to Microsoft for use in Windows 1.0. When Microsoft made changes in Windows 2.0 adding overlapping windows and other features found in the Macintosh GUI, Apple filed suit. Apple added additional claims to the suit when Microsoft released Windows 3.0.

What?

Chagrin 2009-11-19 11:12:19 PM
They have a minimal ass size restriction for Microsoft employees?

Dr. Nick Riviera [TotalFark] 2009-11-20 12:07:34 AM
The Blackeyed Peas compel the employees at the Microsoft Store in Mission Viejo, California to break out in dance, let their hair down and have some fun. This is an amazing store, the employees seem really excited and engaged, almost happy to be at work. My favorite parts are when people walking in the mall come inside the store, join in the dancing and have some fun. The amazing thing is that people are in the store for hours, they love interacting with the software and learning about new technology.

Well this person certainly seems like a bystander who was just fortunate enough to be in the right place and time to videotape this event! And I'm sure he has no connection to Microsoft at all!

Question for the Windows users:

Boot time? Doest that mean when the desktop appears or when the system becomes responsive and usable? I have an older XP machine and a Vista machine that boots plenty quick enough but takes it's own sweet time doing whatever it does behind the screen before it will do what I ask.

erveek 2009-11-20 01:55:05 AM
When they started clapping, I thought it was someone's birthday and they were going to sing in a family-restaurant-style act of mutual public humiliation.

Interesting twist on the apple store showcase tables.

Apple: wooden legs, light top like a library

Microsoft: wooden legs with black tops like a biology/chem lab

I wonder if the Microsoft stores will have that faint, deodorant/soap/shampoo optional hint of armpit you get at the North Austin Apple store?

I love when people discuss 'boot time' like it's some big deal. The only time I ever boot any computer is after an update -- and I usually do those overnight.

what a terrible and cheesy way to show "hey look! we're a fun and happy company!"

if i was a customer in that store, and that went on, i would have left out of being embarrassed for the workers.

Well, thank God you are here to inform us. Here I thought that my CS degree and 12 years of software engineering experience was enough to let me make my own decision on which system I wanted to buy. I should have though to consult some random douche on Fark first.

You must have a real emotional issue that you are working through to feel the need to insult others for making a different decision from the one you made. Buyers remorse?

I will not go to a store that feels the need to entertain. Went to Joe's Crab Shack once. Had to wait forever for refills and food cuz the waiters were always "busting a move".

Ha! Went to a steak house once where we waited 20 minutes for drinks while the staff line danced. We were getting really pissed (and not in the British way).

There has to be a better way to be entertained while getting crabs.

Linux is as stable as Mac. Mac is UNIX under the hood.
