Oh, I don't know. I watched Brandy Chastain whip off her top after a soccer match.

Unexpected, yes. Fail, never.

Did that clip REALLY need "Don't Worry, Be Happy?"

To be far, that "sports bra" underneath was not being subjected to large static or dynamic stresses.

Oh I don't know - that sports bra NOT coming off was a pretty big fail.

Good point.

Sweet goal. Not so sweet celebration. Hope he's okay.

Also, aren't those plexiglass boards supposed to take that kind of abuse?

Another otherwise good video ruined by someone's horrible taste in music.

Going to be hard for him to get off his glass.

Can someone send this to Alex Ovechkin?

The glass didn't break, it was probably not installed properly and the support that holds it in wasn't tight enough so the whole thing fell out.

Geez....it's not as if hockey players had trouble getting injured before...what's next, protruding spikes randomly coming up through the ice?

...actually, that'd be pretty awesome.

Close.

The ice manager's getting reamed over that. Maybe fired. However, I'm not sure it's entirely the staff's fault. It probably is, though.

Those panes of glass aren't screwed in or anything, they're dropped down between two slots in the metal stanchions. They need to be loose so they can rattle and absorb and dissipate impact. I think was actually happened was that the glass was cut down from a larger piece of plexi (cutting the class to fit the specific size required happens all the time), and they cut it too thin. It was JUST thick enough to hold itself between the stanchions, but clearly didn't have any actual strength. If you were to look close, I bet you'd find that the back edges of the glass were rounded over after this, from being forced through the stanchion brackets. And since it's Euro-hockey, it's not like anyone was going to get driven into the glass by a hit so they'd find out sooner.

The other thing that could have happened is that the stanchions were bent outwards towards the surrounding panes by impact during the game. That means it's not the staff's fault at all. I find it unlikely, though, as European games don't generally have the requisite level of hitting in the corners to make something like that happen.

/drove a zamboni for year, so I'm getting a kick, replies, etc.

well, I doubt that he's getting fired. jeez.

mighta just been the way the guy hit it. freak accident, like. that part of the boards is curved, so maybe it's not as flush as other parts of the boards, and it popped out, who knows.

triptheory - that game was awesome! Though I don't know that I played any of the Mutant League games where I won legitimately versus making the other team forfeit after killing half of there players.

lmao yea. i wish they remade those games...

He hit the glass fairly high up, which would reduce the effect of the bottom middle bracket for keeping the glass straight. Plexiglas flexes a bit, each side comes out, badda bing. FAIL

Subterfuge1 2009-11-19 03:49:14 PM
The fail in the title refers to 'Don't Worry, Be Happy?' right?

Not really fail from the player, players jump into the glass all the time. the fail is from whoever installed that glass.

If he had jumped OVER the glass, torn his knee, bashed heads with another player rendering him unconscious, slipping and falling in a comical fashion... those are fails.

The glass people are the fail here.

I can't listen to that song and not think of that creepy/sad Futurama episode.

It's one of the few episodes I skip, not because of the sadness (I love Seymore and the other sentimental episodes) but because it's so damn disturbing before it gets sentimental.

Bjorkloven?

Sounds like the makings of a good porno title.

That sure looks like a pretty scathing indictment of the lack of hitting in European hockey.

Otherwise they probably would have noticed the boards weren't anchored into the frames by now.

That'll happen when your stick hits the glass before the guy you're checking. Looked alot more impressive than it was.

I for one enjoyed Brandy Chastain's celeBRAtory antics and found that a woman removing her jersey post goal was TITilating enough for me. I think it was bReAst that no nippleage ensued.
