The Powers That Be provided them with a police escort. Not much of a fight, I think.

That written, what they're doing is helpful. I hope they raise money and awareness.

They should have did this 20 years ago when then mattered.

Will they be covering any Elvis?

Five-oh said "FREEZE"!

It engiggles me to see all the honkeys having such a good time and singing along.

Unixfreak: They should have did this 20 years ago when then mattered.

Yeah, time has a way of not mattering once it's passed.

They put on a damned good show at the Lisner last night.
They're teamed up with Virgin Mobiles Re-Generation group, doing awareness and money raising for youth homeless. Not a bad gig.
Chuck pointed out that we should push the bands we like & see to start doing something for the community. Good messages and good music all around.

Unfortunately, before the show, we had to watch the All Access documentary about the 2009 Virgin Fest - filmed entirely by high school & college students. Except for some bits, it was pretty boring.

I loved them on "O Brother Where Art Thou".

I just saw Public Enemy this summer, unlike Snoop Dogg, they were actually good live.

I could have done with hearing fewer "yeah boooooyyyyyeee"s though.

Public Enemy is all Chuck D. Flava Flav is a talentless whore, but Chuck is awesome. I am suprised he wasn't kicked out for making the rest of them look bad. I mean, even Griff the anti-semite garners more respect than Flava Flav. I have seen them live several times. Once in NYC, Flava Flav was not there because he was in jail for driving without a license. It was their best show.

Well, they had to sell records and unfortunately, the average person thinks of a big clock when they hear "Public Enemy."

Unrelated PE story...

Back in the early '90's I worked for a local electronics chain. We did a lot of car audio out of my particular store. Like every other day, some kid came in to buy subwoofers for his car & wanted a demo. One of the standard qualifying questions was "What do you listen to?". Obviously, he said rap. So I busted out PE's Apocolypse '91 CD & cranked it. The kid says "Who is this?" I told him it was PE. He says "Who's Public Enemy?" I almost asked him to leave.

"Fight The Power" is a great song by the Isley Brothers. That steaming dump taken all over it by Pubic Enemy ... not so much.

Any publicity to drum up cash for their album, I guess.

I take it they didn't play "Can't Do Nuttin' for Ya Man"?

public enemy were just about perfect. saw them like ten years ago and it was a good show.
flava flav isnt supposed to be the talented one, he was/is chucks hype man. the spaz to offset the serious tone of chuck d.

/guess nobody remembers hype men these days

CatfoodSpork 2009-11-19 04:49:44 PM
That's because Flava isn't even a very good hype man.

Meh.... About 10 years ago I was browsing through the baroque section of the classical music dept at a tower records in LA and spent about 20 minutes trading suggestions with some other customer - he looked familiar and thought he was a vendor rep from my work until I saw him getting into a ridiculous Hummer and driving off. About 20 minutes later the light bulb went off.

/Chuck D prolly likes Camembert too...

They raised plenty of money, most of it went for things other than helping people, chuck D may have helped a bunch of people, flav is just his wind up toy for shock value. Totally worthless.

Isn't this a WCW headline from 1999?

I thought their guy won!?

"I'm still feeling it right now at my age and I haven't even felt it yet," said Flavor Flav.............classic, dumber than dirt

/only in America
