Even experts such as Schneppat say they can't be certain what these slugs are. The sure way to identify them is to examine their genitalia. This is achieved through delicate anatomical dissection.

Oh, yes; isn't that the perfect job? Examining ... slug ... genitalia
/wait, what?

This "scientist" is surely male, and probably a farker.

The problem with science is that its first reaction is always "Can we get more information?"

Just kill them all so they don't end up like Australia's cane toads.

For invasive species, yeah. Nuke 'em from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Large slugs likely do not move more than a few metres in their lifespan - usually about a year long, but sometimes as long as six.

Learn something every day...

Hot!

Stale beer seems to attract slugs and is a very cost effective and environmentally friendly way for farmers to deal with the pests. So of course the pesticide companies made it illegal in California to use beer to control slugs.

Slugs out in November? In Toronto?

Green Bastard 2009-11-19 10:54:04 AM
I've meet a few New Toronto/Mimico slugs that are attracted to beer and are in need of immersion in boiling water.

2wolves: Slugs out in November? In Toronto?

Toronto doesn't get a consistent freeze until mid to late December.
