But, I agree, I thought Sears, Penney's, etc, all got rid of their telephone book sized catalogs like a decade ago.

A friend of mine was a child model, a handsome young lad, who landed the coveted JCPenney ventriloquist doll model gig.

Still have a soft spot. They were *the* above K-mart general clothing place in my small town. Not a huge selection (smaller town version), but you got anything from the catalog delivered to the store, without shipping. They called you when it was in, and then you could try it on and decide whether to actually buy it or not. So civilized, really.

Lawnchair is right and we still have one here because of that.
Shop online, pickup /try-on/exchange at the store. It works, but yeah, the place always looks like it is about to close up.
