Subby is an Ignint McNugget. Roger Taylor's multi-instrumental talents are widely known.

The Queen one, not the Duran Duran one.

If that makes you angry, you will be really pissed off when you learn that the submitter already has at least 7 green lights today.

No, because he just plain sucks and should be given the Old Yeller treatment.

The Duran Duran one is a pretty good club DJ as well now.

Ok. Well, when your career has been as successful, spanned as many decades, and you've proved yourself a tenured multi-intrumental musician, I'll give a little more credence to your post.

Let's see subby, who did you miss?

Drummers Who Can Sing:

Phil Collins(check)
Don Henley(check)
Roger Taylor from Queen
Levon Helm
Dave Grohl(He can sing, but usually doesn't do lead if he drums)
Ringo Starr
Mickey Dolenz
Peter Criss
Jimmy Marinos
Karen Carpenter(yes, THAT one)
Meg White(sparingly)

/subby is a numbnuts.

I'm glad to know only successful, multi-instrumentalists who have been around since the 70s are allowed to have an opinion on music. This will shorten up some Fark music threads, I'm sure.

It's because Phil writes shiatty music and his voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

/however he is a decent drummer
//he just needs to keep his mouth shut
///this all goes for Henley as well

BobtheFascist 2009-11-18 02:12:34 PM
The drummer in my last band was the lead singer. He pulled a Dave Grohl & switched to guitar a few years later. Damn shame, too. He was a far better drummer than guitarist.

Taylor Hawkins can sing. When I saw the Foo Fighters he and Grohl switched places for a couple songs.

i'm not a metal head by any means, but once in a while a band like mastodon comes along and impresses me...that dude does do some badass drumming

most metal i like is pantera, coc, down, old 'tallica, etc

Nirvana had a musical genius in the band and it wasn't "St. Kobain"

Dave Grohl, Mayor of Rockband!

And Charlie from Anthrax did a pretty could job on "I'm the Man", and is a kick butt drummer..

All drummers are not the same. I don't know how much love there is for DMB on Fark but Carter Beauford is probably the most overlooked drummer - especially by people who just assume that Dave is just mainstream pop garbage - typically if people look past that they understand what an amazing and different drummer he really is. I don't really know who I'm writing this to but I felt like it needed to be said. He often sings backup too.

Roger Taylor is a very, very good drummer and, if recall correctly, he played guitar in his side project The Cross back in the 80's and early 90's, not drums. Also, he is a terrific singer -- he has sung lead vocals on some great Queen tracks, as noted above and also including Fun It, Sheer Heart Attack and Fight From the Inside.

So, subby, I take umbrage at your insinuation.

Phideaux 2009-11-18 09:32:33 PM

QFT. You're not alone. Do you play? Carter has one of today's most unique drumming voices, and I'm not talking about his singing. But he's not bad at that, either.

ps. fark you subby, with an AIDS encrusted drumstick.
