I was told if I voted for Obama this wouldn't happen.

Wow Americans will have to make their own supplies of waffles and freeze them. Civilisation, as we know it, has ended.

Yes, aearra, the party is over. We are now officially back in the stone age.

I'm eating an eggo with eggs and sausage right now, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies....

Now I'm going to have to buy Safeway brand waffles....which taste like frozen cardboard.

Spindle 2009-11-18 08:35:27 AM
Heh, we buy eggo mini-waffles for the kids and the stores have been sold out for about a month. I was thinking there was someone who just camped out waiting for a new delivery or something. This article actually helps clear things up.

Ah, the moment I have long awaited -- now I shall corner the market on electic waffle irons!!

/they all said I was mad
//you said I was mad too
///But I'll show you, I'll show them all!!!

Ah, so that explains why I couldn't get those Eggo Mini Waffles for my kid anymore. I just thought they discontinued them.

Wow, I had assumed some kind of quiet, voluntary recall.

DoughyGuy 2009-11-18 09:30:44 AM
Mmmmm... I could go for a big stack of waffles with peanut butter, syrup, and a sliced banana on top... It's my favorite thing for a herbally-assisted Saturday morning full of cartoons...

Haven't bought any waffles for a while now - so I hadn't noticed that the Eggos were scarce. However, since I usually buy Aunt Jemima when I buy waffles, this shouldn't be a problem.

Although I will say that Eggo's Banana Bread waffles are awesomeness on a plate... But I have to go to the 'bad' grocery store to get them, as the 'good' one doesn't stock them.

ah-oh, somebody letgo their eggo!!

all over the wrong face too.

Anyone have a waffle maker? Just make waffles instead of store bought. They're healthier.

For your health!

boko 2009-11-18 11:32:57 AM
You know how you go to the freezer looking for frozen waffles you don't find them, but when you're looking for something else, you find frozen waffles?
/How I Met Your Mother FTW!
//"Also, could you pick up some frozen waffles? In this case, frozen waffles are frozen waffles."

I blame swine flu for using all those eggs.

When Katrina hit New Orleans, I went to the grocery store and bought four bottles of Crystal hot sauce (their factory was under water and took a few months to relocate and get back into production).

Slug2468: I was told if I voted for Obama this wouldn't happen.

Nah, you're thinking of 2004. Kerry was labeled the waffler.

I was telling my best friend about the horrible national Eggo shortage, and he thought I was kidding.

Went food shopping later on and - sure enough - there's a SIGN on the frozen food case announcing the "national Eggo shortage".

Strangely enough, there didn't seem to be any hoarding of Eggos based upon the nearly full shelves of Eggo products...

I do most of my shopping at one southern chain, Harris Teeter. the 3 stores I've been to all have empty freezers where the Eggo products usually are and a sign saying how sorry they are for the inconvenience and it isn't their fault.

Again, I blame swine flu.

LOL WUT That's preposterous. You can't make your own waffles. You have buy them in the freezer section of the grocery store. Or go to a restaurant where they magically appear from the back room behind those swinging doors.

You know, I bought a couple boxes of blueberry Eggos a couple months ago. So far, I have about half a box left. I just don't eat them much.

But now that there's a shortage, it makes me want to scarf the waffles and run around and find more, even though they weren't a big deal for me before.

Fark it, I'll buy bagels.

Human psychology, it is weird.

Hehe... Sarcasm aside, I don't own a waffle-maker because it's yet another appliance that I'd have to buy for one dish that I have maybe (at the most) 3 times a month. My kitchen's small enough as it is, without yet another piece of junk cluttering it up.

So, I buy frozen waffles instead. This is the same reason I buy pre-made pasta instead of making it fresh - no room for a pasta machine. Ditto for ice cream, beer, or any other food or drink that requires special equipment to prepare properly.

They screwed up Eggo waffles several years ago when they changed the waffle-die to have larger pockets. Bastards.
The old waffles had smaller squares, making it easier to spread butter.
