I hear they're gonna put KKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNN in the sequel.

Gag reels are boring these days.

Also: "Star Trek Reboot: 2" needs more of that green chick in the bikini. Which reminds me...

Not by much.

It's just not a gag reel without Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Dom Delouise... Amirite Gen X'ers?

Bunnyhat 2009-11-18 01:09:10 AM
5 minute gag reel with 2 minutes of it being some guy beat boxing and another minute of sad white guy dances?'

The rest of it was people messing up their line and then saying fark.

How fail.

Ugh, "Dom DeLuise", who knew... also here you are:

End credits Smokey II blooper reel (new window)

Anyone else tired of idiots touting this mediocre film as the second coming of space-christ for the stark trek franchise? I'd rather have another 'boring' next gen movie.

ABQGOD 2009-11-18 01:21:50 AM
Some parts were amusing, but a gag reel is not supposed to be EVERY single amusing thing that happened on set. This is boring to the point where I bet the guys involved cringe when they watch this.

Hm.
Are you accepting minion applications?

great headline, bad link

JJ Abrams spends most of the time on the commentary track having the other producers give him a tongue bath.

If you don't want to listen to the commentary, just yell "THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCENE" and "I LOVE THIS EDITING CHOICE SO MUCH" every 30 seconds - - it's the same effect.

HAHAHHAHAHA

the irish bit at the end was farking hilarious.

Really though, he did manage to do a good job. He didn't piss off old school trekkies and brought new people into it. I was pretty surprised myself that he was able to strike a good balance with it and not turn it completely into a teen melodrama

I hate "Star Trek" with a passion-- it never did anything but bore me to tears-- and I got dragged to the Abrams version, kicking and screaming. I loved it: thought it made the characters interesting, thought it was surprisingly funny, thought the story was solid.

And here's the best compliment I can pay it: Abrams' version actually convinced me to finally sit down and watch "Wrath of Kahn", which I quite enjoyed. Any further attempts to appreciate "Trek" have crashed and burned, but Abrams' version gave me an appreciation of the franchise I didn't have-- replacing my outright contempt for it-- and made me give a shiat about the characters.

I'd say he pulled it off. I'm more than happy to get onboard with the idea of a sequel, too.

No, it sounds like you didnt like it BECAUSE it wasnt another "boring" next gen movie, which i too found entertaining.

Oh, no, I enjoyed the film for what it was. Just tired of the 'it's trek for the non geeks' drivel. The "Everyone loves trek now because jj abram made a space battle pew pew film that's super awesome and not like any of that old boring crap that no one likes! Woo woo!" stuff.

....You have to be honest, a lot of next gen films were shiat. Insurrection would have been better served as an episode, Generations was just...ugh, and Nemesis managed to suck and blow at the same time.

JJ's film delivered on the promise of First Contact - yes, you CAN still make Trek films that are true to the franchise and kick absolute arse.

Good
choice. I've yet to convince the other half to watch it. Voyage Home is another good 'un, but that's more poking fun. Undiscovered Country is a good political intrigue one - the foundation of what eventually became the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire

Check out First Contact as well - it's a next generation film, and if you're a complete newbie you may want to read up on the Borg, but holy shiat, that was on TV the other day and it's still five thousand flavours of awesome.

Word. I kinda liked Start Trek 1 & 2, but could never get into the series(es?). This one was just off the hook. I saw it the first time last night and plan on watching it again tonight.

The new Trek is pretty enough... and I'm not going to bag on the continuity, accepting that this is a "parallel universe"... but even so, the plot is just full of holes and kind of stupid. Why can't I have good characterization AND a plot that works?

Am I the only one who when first say the promo for the new Star Trek, I thought of the SG-1 200th episode clip for the teenagers version of SG-1.

Spockrocket 2009-11-18 05:22:44 PM
I'll admit, seeing this movie made me go and start checking out the original Trek as well as Next Generation. So the movie definitely did what it was supposed to.

CheatsAtMasturbation 2009-11-18 07:28:13 PM
Without looking at the reel, I predict that someone will flub their line and everyone will crack up, repeat 10 x. Gag reels are really only funny to the people involved and RPS fangirls who imagine the shared chuckles are just prelude to later heavy petting in the trailers.

Actually, I would have been just as happy with 10 minutes of that Uhura warm-up dance.

that blooper real revealed to me that if it wasn't for Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, Star Trek would have a pretty decent cast.

As a third-generation Trekkie, we all held the same opinion of the movie after seeing it:

It IS a Star Trek movie - everything about it fits and makes sense. It's made a little flashier (though not much, really), and a little more pathos-driven (okay, a LOT more) but in the end it's that one dark, foreboding thing no Star Trek fan would admit in public, but certainly will in private:

- It's the best one since Generations.
- JJ Abrams gets it. Completely.

/Bones and Scotty stole the whole damn movie.

Seriously, any Trekkie that knows anything at all would say that First Contact is way better than Generations.
