Yeah, because when I think breasts, I think of a giant Rush Limbaugh smiling at me. Thanks a lot subby.

Zombie Neurosurgeon 2009-11-17 07:32:55 PM
That was dumb. Like really dumb. Add on the giant Rush image and I've really got to ask why this went green.

If people did more than "try and raise awareness" for breast cancer (like donating money towards actual research instead of to organizations who only try to raise more awareness), things could be much better

platkat [TotalFark] 2009-11-17 07:49:32 PM
The dance was a cute idea, but the song choice was ridiculous.

Adblock Plus can make the fat, pill-popping bloviator vanish.
It was surprisingly satisfying.

I couldn't even finish watching it, it was so awkward.

They should have used this.

Yeah, my general stance is "fark cancer awareness, I support cancer research." Everyone and their grandmothers... especially their grandmothers, know what cancer is. We hardly need to raise awareness, we just need to damn well find a cure.

My thoughts exactly, verbatim.

That's weird

lithappens 2009-11-17 08:35:59 PM
How many people died in order to make that movie?

Sherjo311 2009-11-17 08:47:50 PM
they could always just have jennifer tilly play a game of poker with a pink ribbon on.

stiletto_the_wise [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-11-17 08:52:53 PM
I've never understood the goal of promoting "awareness" of something that everyone knows about.

Do they expect that there's some person out there on YouTube who has never heard of breast cancer before, who, after watching this video, says to himself, "Hey, I didn't know breasts could get teh cancer! Wow!!"

Drasancas 2009-11-17 08:53:04 PM
made it about 7 seconds

I think breast cancer awareness has officially jumped the shark.

Not only that, but out of all the cancers, breast cancer has been so over sold as to virtually become old hat. Where's the awareness campaigns for prostate cancer? Or eye cancer? Or bladder cancer?

BUt yeah, awareness means nothing. Research is where the cool kids donate.

Phideaux 2009-11-17 09:16:44 PM
Epilepsy kills more people than breast cancer. Are they aware of that?

I'm sorry, I couldn't watch that video cause I was too busy watching this video where
Alyson Hannigan touches Emily Deschanel's breasts.

What is the goal of Breast Cancer Awareness? Are there seriously people that see this video and have no idea that breast cancer is bad? I hate the breast cancer awareness campaign so much. It's just a marketing scam at its very core.

Tits or GTFO.

HI-FYE 2009-11-17 09:52:50 PM
We need to have white people dancing awareness.

my eldest sister died at age 35 of breast cancer, leaving two little girls, one 12 years old, and the other 6, behind.
my nieces.

I have had to stand up and be the best uncle I could be and fill them in on the stories that made her mother real, and human.

and even I couldn't get more than a minute into that gawd Awful video

BalugaJoe [TotalFark] 2009-11-17 10:14:31 PM
They should show Eliza Dushku getting naked and doing it.

Jubeebee: I'm aware of her at least.

This is my daughter. Maybe someday you will meet her in her professional capacity, cardiac operating room technician. There you'll be on the table because your defective heart has had some sort of episode where it left you to die. Your heart will be chilled and nearly lifeless. The surgeon will try to excise the damaged bits and salvage whatever good remains. My daughter will be holding your heart in her strong capable hands so that the surgeon can access all of the necrotic tissue.
I have asked her, "Do you ever wonder what it would be like to just squeeze the life out of it?"

Inaditch 2009-11-17 10:22:20 PM

I'm pretty sure it's already been established that this is the greatest breast cancer awareness video ever.

Or at the very least, a superior one.

Every aspect of clicking that link made me feel uncool. A giant Rush Limbaugh and a video of middle-aged people dancing to a shiatty pop song.

I gotta go put on some sunglasses or something.

I myself have always been a fan of the 1-866-RING-CAM ad. "Ladies, put YOUR breasts in MY hands"

tarkhuna 2009-11-18 02:08:29 AM
I for one enjoyed it. People showing character for promoting a search for cancer is cool by me.
You're all too young to realize the perils you may have to face later on. Good luck and godspeed.

mdin617 [TotalFark] 2009-11-18 03:29:08 AM
Not enjoying the video is not the same as lacking empathy for breast cancer victims.

Being critical of poor execution in this case is more a reaction against the false expectations set by the headline.

Context, people. Try to keep a finger on it.

/strangely sarcasm-free for the benefit of the humor impaired

Side note:

The nursing staff in the optical department of the Rockyview hospital in Calgary are the most ludicrously attractive Women I've ever witnessed outside of a pageant.

/kid you not
//can't explain it either.
