Background, you better take care
If you're beige and you're trippy
On that stage up there

Was this part of the Canadian Background Trilogy?

Saw Gordon last year. His voice is a little thinner than it used to be, but he was surprisingly good.

I can't see you lookin' past that ol' background thing,
it's a hard buzzin' pattern, got me feelin' mean.

I must have missed it...when does the Edmund Fitzgerald sink in this song?

SomethingInYourTeeth: I must have missed it...when does the Edmund Fitzgerald sink in this song?

As soon as James Cameron gets the budget to sink it.

Background, I think it's a shame,
gives me a migraine, but I'm feelin' no pain.

And you won't watch that clip again,
Because the background's just too hard to take

Song for a Winters Night is one my favorite songs ever. I don't know how much longer he'll be around but my dad raised me on Lightfoot, The Kingston Trio, Limeliters and stuff like that and I still listen to this day.

I've never used any psychadelic drugs.
Now I don't have to.

The best part is the song can serve as the score for the film. The entire film, in fact.

Gord's birthday? I bet there was a magnificent outpouring of well wishes.

I have never been bodily dragged into a bedroom more quickly than immediately after I played that for a lady friend many years ago.

Thanks, Gord.

Gordon's coming here in concert next year, and I've heard both of these statements before. Not sure who to believe. I love me some Lightfoot, but it'd be a shame if I went and he was horrible live.

Aaand you drink for free in my company. That trill he hits on the low notes is probably gone at 71, but who cares? Is there any better music for long drives? No. No there is not.

Bought some of his music last weekend.

That was a great song.
