And why weren't we there to stuff the ballot box with Rick Astley?

sure haven't 2009-11-17 06:37:55 AM
Is "retiring with class" out of the question for these aged gentlemen?

Gary Cherone - it worked for Van Halen

BB King or Buddy Guy.

It's too bad that Rolling Stone magazine doesn't have their own website so someone could directly link to the article in question.

Mick Jagger?

I fully support the idea of Diamond Dave in Aerosmith. That would be awesome. Steven Tyler was hardly my favorite singer anyways. And its Dave, so it couldn't be all bad
/right?

Stompn_Tom: Gary Cherone - it worked for Van Halen

I'm thinking Gary Cherone, Ray Wilson, Ripper Owens and those two girls who took over singing lead for 10,000 Maniacs after Natalie left.

mofomisfit 2009-11-17 09:27:20 AM
Aerosmith should just break up and they can all hobble toward death with what little dignity they have left.

Jencaasi 2009-11-17 09:36:31 AM
I'd like to hear what "Aerosmith" would sound like with Diamond Dave.

I don't think I'd buy anything they'd release. But, that's pretty much what I say about Aerosmith now, anyway.

bush 2009-11-17 09:39:29 AM
Unfortunately, David Lee Roth is one of the few people who could pull off most of Aerosmith's material.

bungle_jr 2009-11-17 09:44:18 AM
didn't aerosmith announce they are not breaking up, nor is steven tyler leaving the band?

Jencaasi 2009-11-17 10:23:21 AM
bungle_jr: didn't aerosmith announce they are not breaking up, nor is steven tyler leaving the band?

My understanding is they're basically not talking to each other and nobody knows anything but Steven wants to focus on "Brand Tyler" whatever that is.

Keywork99 2009-11-17 10:25:15 AM
Why should anyone replace Steve? The band is a shell of what they once were. They should just hang it up.

bungle_jr 2009-11-17 10:26:59 AM
ok, hard to keep up with all the celeb "news" anyway.
not that i care that much...i do really like aerosmith, but they've just been remaking the same pop song for about 15 years now. i know many here say they were their absolute best with their 70's stuff, but my favorite stuff from them were the "permanent vacation" and "pump" albums

Aerosmith could definitely "retire with class"...

...if the year were still 1989. 1993 at the latest.

David Lee Roth is NOT ALLOWED to do ANYTHING ELSE until at least three new Van Halen albums come out. I've been waiting since 1985.

Gilbert Gottfreid. Or that "Yeah, that's the ticket" guy.

Tony Van Morrison 2009-11-17 11:15:35 AM
The farked up part is that most of the guys in the band likely need to continue the band due to financial reasons. These guys are in their fifties touring because they have to.

no, he's enjoying his retirement with his wife morgan fairchild

I like Aerosmith, but I think a guy named Ree Tirement should take his place.

I saw him at a party hosted by Donald Trump.

If they do go on tour without Steve and you go see said show you should be slapped several time so you can come back to your senses. It has lost its shine. AC DC barely can still hop around. The Stones are on way borrowed time.
Just fking die already. If cool came back into rock and roll it should be Steve dying from a drug overdose and they tour his dead corpse across the USA

Jim R 2009-11-17 11:40:55 AM
Steven Tyler sang a song with Joe Perry's band last week, and said on stage he's not leaving Aerosmith.

Of course, that was a whole week ago. Who knows what the story is this week?

Aren't we all? The point is they too, can still rock hard.

Just fking die already.

Why don't you take your own advice?

i saw them 7 years ago, they rocked hard...angus ran/funkychickened up and down the stage like a guitarist in his 20's probably couldn't do...i couldn't see 7 years slowing them down much
The Stones are on way borrowed time.

but ti-iii-ime is on their side
yes it is

Aren't we all? The point is they too, can still rock hard.

also saw the stones 10 years ago...yeah, 10 years at their age may have slowed them down a bit, but at that time they had one of the biggest stages ever in rock concert history and mick RAN the length of it for about 2 1/2 hours straight

Just fking die already.

Why don't you take your own advice?

Well I would but the internets are still up and running and assclowns like you are still relevant in your own mind so its best I stick around and poke the downs kid in the side and laugh with him pretending someone else did it. skippytheferret you had it from the beginning and now I will get back to work. Just for the record its not satire if your living it.

Josh Todd...interesting choice. Pick a new band name, and you might have a winner.

Bullshiat...I saw them perform at the Tacoma Dome a year ago, and they still kick ass.

Jim R: I saw them last year and they rocked hard.

Hell yes. Angus may not run laps around the stage any more, but for *me*, that's a plus, I always found his antics distracting. As long as Malcolm is there providing that kick-ass rhythm guitar and Phil Rudd is holding down the bottom, I'll go see AC/DC any time that they come 'round. See also: Iron Maiden.

Aren't we all? The point is they too, can still rock hard.

Sure can. Yes, there's bands out there that should be put out to pasture, but The Stones are road whores, they tour their asses off and put on a great show, Jagger and Keef still have it, performing-wise (songwriting-wise, well.......), so why not? "Hope I die before I get old" is looking a little silly these days.

Tony Van Morrison: These guys are in their fifties touring because they have to.

Possibly, but never ever underestimate the pull of standing on a stage in front of 20,000 fans and having their full attention for 2 hours or more. It's a VERY powerful drug.

Or maybe you're seeing bands performing at less than their best cos Nebraska's not known for being a really rockin' sort of place? I can't imagine any band who's going to break out their A game for a state most people can't find on a map.

mhd 2009-11-17 12:33:39 PM
Ronnie James Dio. Yes, you would have to lower the mic stand "a bit", but he maintains the required set of wrinkles and knows some of the lyrics already.

/And he obviously has ample experience with pompous guitar players.
