Leave the whining to the professionals.

Sorry you feel so inferior, people, but then, you are, so get over it.

Just remember that we're the children who will decide which nursing home to put you in, old man, so you'd better be nice to us.

Gen X entered the job market in the middle of a recession. Maybe we're just sick of something that wasn't ever supposed to happen again according to Reagan's propaganda corps. According to those lying bastards, I should be living in a mansion by now, worrying about the capital gains tax.

They're antsy and edgy, tired of waiting for promotion opportunities at work as their elders put off retirement

According to the lessons taught to me by the baby boomers, it's entirely right and proper for me to undermine the authority of those who refuse to get the hell outta my way. Also, it is right and proper to pay lip service to the concepts of social justice and equitable behavior for all while quietly ignoring any such ideals in ruthless pursuit of private profit and personal pleasures.

I learned it from you, Mom. I learned it from watching you.

So now I'm Gen X again? They keep moving the goalposts.

Anyway, I'm quite content with this recession. Fewer douchebags at my favorite bars/restaurants; fewer douchebags on my flights; fewer douchebags asking me if I'm a homeowner so they can brag about their overpriced shiatboxes.

Life is much better

Same boomers who failed to plan adequately for retirement, and are now hoarding the senior and executive-level positions, while Gen-Xers languish in middle management and are surpassed by the Gen-Yers who are perceived to be savvy and in tune with the future of the market?

Because if that happens to be the same boomers, they're even bigger dicks than the guy who does 30 in a 55 in the fast lane, giving the finger to everyone tailgating and honking the horn behind him.

meh. Lie to the boomers, take what you can and prep the Gen Y douchebag as the fall guy. that's worked for me.

hmm...then again, i'm an amoral mercenary opportunist. so your mileage may vary.

I'm a bit more on the amoral side than most of my generation, but we're all pretty much on the same wavelength when it comes to cynical behavior. And we're all looking at that sucking black hole called social security and waiting for it to implode.

Oddly enough, it's been Boomers or Gen Xers who have chastised me for being too wordy in emails.

Hey when you are told to invest in 401Ks as your main retirement, there is no one to blame but yourself.

The "boomers" are caught between actual retirements paid by companies and paying your own retirement. The newer Gens will have to learn from these new plans. Unless Chairman Obama gives us all retirements!

we can't pay for social security right now, let alone whatever this health care 'reform' package is gonna cost. As a wise man once said - once you've lost everything, you're free to do anything. I wonder how long it'll be until we lose what little we've gained for ourselves?

with so many people out of work (or being forced to take lower paying jobs just to scrape by), I don't see how we're going pay for all of this stuff. payroll tax return is WAY off projections, and it's getting worse.

FTFA: "...Generation X. They're the 32- to 44-year-olds who are wedged between Baby Boomers and their children..."

Huh? I was always under the impression that Gen Xers were mostly the children of Baby Boomers. I'm 36 and my parents were Baby Boomers.

On another note, I have several Generation Y cousins (under 30) who are surprisingly normal despite their peer group. One is an English teacher, one is a paramedic, one is a restaurant manager, another did 4 years in the Navy and now works for American Express. They've mostly done pretty well for themselves.

think about it - if most of the boomer generation died off, we'd see an immediate benefit to this country. First off, a good portion of Congress would be gone. instant house cleaning! Not to mention the reduction in the costs of long term health care. also, younger generations would see a boost in income due to collecting on those life insurance and inheriting any money from the old folks kicking off (along with federal and state taxes boosted from those same payouts as well). it also goes without saying that social security spending would go down significantly, and various opportunities would open up for promtion (and increased salaries, along with a rise in pay roll tax income for the Fed).

Pretty much sums it up, hah.

I'd still take a boomer over a GenY'er as a colleague any day of the week though. Boomers make hardcore old-school douchebag colleagues who get shiat done. Not like those whiny biatch genY'ers.

Generally, every generation thinks the one before it was the cause of all the world's problems, and the following generation is too incompetent to solve them.

If every generation actually tried to solve the world's problems more than whining about them (like the WWII generation), we wouldn't have nearly as many of them.
