I don't think OlaftheBent would like us talking about his ship like that.

Mangini needs to right this ship and fast if he expects to last in Cleveland.

Christ, what is with NFL/NBA players always running their mouths about their own teammates/coaches???

You dont see it as much in MLB, and almost never in the NHL.

Honestly, is it the lack of black players???

If they didn't suck so much maybe they wouldn't have to practice so frequently.

"Talent" is the most overused word in sports. When teams win, people use it as a reason for winning. When they lose, teams use it as a cop out. Don't tell me that your 1-8 team "has a lot of talent." Every professional player has talent, otherwise they wouldn't have made the team.

As a Bengals' fan, I'm really getting a kick out wathing Cleveland implode.

/especially right before we play them.
//the problem may not be Mangini, it may be the front office.
///Bengals' fans know about these things

Something can't implode if there was never anything there to begin with. Can we even call the NEW Browns a football team at this point?

So let me get this straight - Jamal Lewis is complaining about working out and practicing? He think they practice too much?

I don't know if this is just me, but in high school I practiced five days a week and if I complained about working too much my farking arse would be benched that Friday.

Sounds like Lewis is on the right path - he really does need to retire.

Maintain the dissension, Browns. Discord, ever flowing discord.

All I need is 5 points from the Ravens defense and I win my Fantasy matchup this week :D

Mangini has gone past the point of no return in Cleveland; I don't see how whoever becomes the new "czar" can justify keeping him past this season. The media actively despises him, the fans loathe him, and the players no longer respect or really listen to him. Lewis' comments make sense when you look at the team's games; they've folded in every 2nd half defensively and the offense never shows up. Either they're too tired to keep going or they just figure it's not worth it and start going through the motions.

/same thing's going to happen tonight
//Quinn still doesn't have any support around him

Is it possible that the browns just refuse to play tonite? Its like they alternate QB's every week, Jamal Lewis just wants to quit, and A starting WR is out for a year because he killed someone driving. They also traded away another good WR to the jets for a rookie and some draft picks for next year so how can you complain about the offense? You get what you ask for and what Mangini is asking for is a new start for the Browns NEXT YEAR. Fortunatly he can only see it from home on TV.

The "Front Office" past Mangini is the GM who Mangini hand-picked. Who is now gone. After six months. Escorted out by security. Stay classy, Browns.

Hey Browns fans -

Here's something to look forward to - the Rich Kotite regime with the Jets lasted TWO years.

We covered this last time. HS practice =/= NFL practice.

Back in the day, no problem. Full pads in practice and tackling drills all season long. Here's an article on "the lost art of tackling" to illustrate that point. But the downside is 2-fold:

1. You wear your guys out, mentally and physically, opening them to greater risk of injury,
2. If your team is still losing despite the heavy practice regiment, morale drops like a rock, especially amongst vets.

Mangini has shown himself to be inflexible in his approaches, seemingly expecting everyone to bend to his will, no matter the effectiveness of his decisions. That is certainly an "old-school" coaching philosophy, one that seems much more suited to the HS and college levels than today's NFL (just ask Nick Saban).

I'm pretty sure Mangini won't last past next year w/ the Browns, but that he will prove very successful in turning around a down-on-its-luck college team.

Yeah, so that makes sense. We suck and we're losing, but it's because we're practicing too much...Excuse me if I have a hard time believing that.

These guys are paid the big bucks to come out onto the field every week, play hard, and give it their all. Players HAVE to be held to the same level of accountability as the coaches and front office staff, because it's not just good coaching that gets teams winning records and championships.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...Talent? What kind of talent are on the Browns? If you mean first year talent, then yes...there is a lot of first year talent on the Browns' roster and starting lineups this year. Being from Cleveland I love the Browns just as much as the next guy, but I'm also a realist, and understand that Rome wasn't built in a day...Most first year players don't have any kind of immediate success unless they're truly gifted athletes. Cleveland fans just like placing the blame on everybody except the people that truly matter, and the people who write the paychecks. So instead of calling Mangini a "joke", or a "failure", or a "horrible coach", maybe we should be blaming Randy Lerner for his inability to keep talented players in Cleveland because of his refusal to open his checkbook and BRING THEM/ KEEP THEM HERE. Motivating incentive based salaries creates motivated players.

There's a reason why the Browns keep getting blown off the line year after year, and it has NOTHING to do with coaching...The players are just lazy and unmotivated, and even in losing, when compared to 98% of other teams, they have it SO EASY here in Cleveland.
