Lou's many things, but fat, at this point, is not one of them.

People whine about this or that person's 15 minutes being up. Johnny Rotten is the ultimate example.

I can't imagine a time where two Lou Reeds stuck together would even be all that fat...

He's tiny. I was surprised when I saw him in concert.

I blame Eddie Cochran (new window). Bare feet slappin' on the floor is where it starts. Sid was a bit of a retard, but the covers he did were pretty cool, sans "My Way".

/It's a swindle.

The New York heroin culture was pretty f*cked up, but I can't help but enjoy Velvet Underground. Good f*cking tunes.

F*ck right off John Lydon.

He is right that drugs are stupid, but so was Sid Vicious. I doubt meeting Lou Reed would have helped anything.

It could have. Perhaps the two of them could drink Sangria in the park. Maybe afterwards feed animals in the zoo, then later a movie, too.

The hall of fame thing had nothing to do with money(not true, it helped them to shiat on the honor). They have never been above selling out, they welcome it in a way.

I think you are not informed.

The Sex Pistols are one of those bands where you really should just listen to Never Bind the Bollocks and not really think too much about the band or its members. Kinda kills it.farking great album though.

Right. The Pistols always admitted when they were in it for the money, and never lied when they talked about their reunion tours. Even their early recorded material laughed at the idea of "selling out."

/I am told that that group have received forty thousand pounds from a record company. Doesn't that seem to be slightly opposed to their anti-materialistic view of life?
//No, the more the merrier.

Remember that time at band camp when Sid hit Lou with a flower, and then Lou wrote a song about it?

If you've ever seen him perform it live, it looks all the world like Lou Reed is sorry he ever wrote 'Heroin' too...

I have a hard time figuring out the connection between butter and anarchy. Rotten is a washed up fark. Reed, got his life together, and did very well for himself. Rotten on the other hand, looks like a joke. Yeah PiL sucks too.

GibbyTheMole 2009-11-16 09:28:31 AM
I'm thinking Rotten/Lydon needs a big heapin' helping of STFU.

I'm not a fan of some of his stuff, but I gotta say, Lou Reed's "Transformer" is a monumental album. A fantastic bit of work.

Johnny Lydon is bitter that he doesn't have 1/10th the artistic credibility
of Lou Reed, and only became famous by whoring himself out to Malcolm MacClaren.

I mean it's not like he got his claim to fame by being part of a group put together primarily for their image with no real concern for talent. Kind of like a diet punk boy band.

never mind the bollocks

metal box
flowers of romance

these four albums should be owned by every music lover.

otherwise you are doing it wrong.

Didn't Lou Reed become famous by whoring himself out to Andy Warhol then compromised his artistic integrity by allowing Nico in the band when she was foisted upon them?

Oh Snap!

Lou wrote some great music, but he also made even more unlistenable garbage. Lydon, has made good music, and sometimes great music throughout his entire career.

Fark all of you who always come into these threads and talk about how much the Pistols suck. I was 11 when I saw a news story about The Sex Pistols and Punk Rock on an "In The News" segment that ran on CBS in between cartoons on Saturday mornings. I got the 8-track the next year when it came out, and it changed my life the same way it changed a whole generation of kids. They were the first voice of Generation X and they continued to be a big influence through the 90s.

/Jones and Cook FTW
