Obviously missed Balloon Boy, the single most important news story in the past 5 years.

I thought we'd gotten out of our "decade" complex, but apparently I was wrong.

This whole decade could be written off. I can wait for the 'teens' to start.

EchoMike 2009-11-16 07:19:54 AM
Wow, I had forgotten how miserable and depressing the last decade was for the most part. Thanks for the reminder, subby.

Wow, what a shiatty decade. I'm glad it's almost over. I entered this decade, happily married and with a really good job that paid well. I had a good, cheap, consistent contact for some primo KB and no troublesome urine tests to ruin it. All of that is gone and it sucks. Well, I am glad to be shunt of the Gila monster of an ex though. So I guess it was worth it.

Life_is_a_carnivore: I forgot Anthrax.

You also forgot Poland.

I need to forward this to Jaycee.

Yup. In 2000 I had a well paying job, hot girlfriend and planned to move out to LA. Today, no job, girlfriend went crazy and I'm still stuck here in FL. I'm going back to school, which I constantly worry I'm too old for (29). But at least I'm still hung like a horse.

Makh [TotalFark] 2009-11-16 08:22:21 AM
Stay underground for a few more years. Get a Palm Pre, droid or an iPhone. About the only things good that came from this decade.

Huh. I entered the decade happily married and with a good job that paid well. Though there were a couple of stumbles along the way, I'm ending the decade with a good job that pays well, still happily married to the same woman, and with a son.

Those stumbles include things like getting laid off twice, and my wife having cancer, btw.

But hey, that's nothing compared to not being able to get some decent weed. You have my sarcastic sympathy.

Squawky [TotalFark] 2009-11-16 08:46:49 AM
Go back underground and come out on December 12, 2012.
Everything should be fine by then.

I'm going back to school too. You are not too old (I'm 35). Thank the FSM that so many college girls today have "daddy issues". You should take advantage of that.

dittybopper: But hey, that's nothing compared to not being able to get some decent weed.

Oh, I can still get it. I just have to buy mids now instead, because I can't afford the super green.

Wouldn't the first decade of the 21st century end in 2010 not 2009? The first decade would have been years 1-10 not 0-9.

Funny... I've got stuck in Florida, too. It seemed so promising when I moved here.

Also no more wife. Still have a job but everyone else has been laid off - so I have three times the work, no raise in 5 years and absolutely no job security.

Sadly, if the trend of my life continues, next decade will make me look back on this one fondly.

/Great, now I'm feeling sorry for myself - which is always helpful.
//Time to go Google my old friends and laugh at how old they now look. Good thing I didn't age.

Omg this. This past year has been terrible, but watching this made me realize how much I want to just forget about the past 10 years.

When did we change so that we had to choose being a Liberal Democrat or a Conservative Republican? That change was probably back in the Reagan era I guess.

I remember shades of gray. You could be a Liberal Republican or a Conservative Democrat. Even middle-of-the-road, you could be conservative on some things and liberal on the others. I still tend to favor conservative fiscal policies and liberal social ones.

Subby: because you thought Y2K was going to kill us all

Hey, man, the jury's still out on that. You and your "hindsight" think you're so smart.

Carth: Wouldn't the first decade of the 21st century end in 2010 not 2009? The first decade would have been years 1-10 not 0-9.

Since there was no year "0", you are technically correct, but reality does not reflect the techincality. Numerologically-speaking, the Decade rolls over at 12:00:00am on January1, 2010, so for all practical purposes, you are incorrect. Also, since the video starts in 2000, this is the 10th year with which it deals.

I agree it covers 10 years but they say it is the first decade of the 21st century when it isn't. Overall I saw the opportunity to be a pedantic smartass and couldn't pass it up.
