Would have expected it from my 9th grade science teacher too.

We called him "Mr. Pantywaist". He wore pink polos with the collars popped (picture Nick Nolte in Pink) and got the Biatch English teacher pregnant. He used to throw objects at people, like stacks of books or handfuls of pencils. He was a tad high strung.

I'm surprised (glad, yet still surprised) that there hasn't been an incident where a teacher goes on a shooting spree at a school yet.

I've seen some pretty unstable teachers out there, ones that just abuse the privilege of academic eccentricity.

Between the idiot kids and the idiot public school systems, it is, indeed amazing. I guess teachers have their own way. My algebra teacher just drank vodka from a jug, threw something against the wall, and exited the classroom for 40 minutes to "calm down." She was still better than the video recording 7th grade math teacher. What is with math teachers?

In related news, online commenters can't tell the difference between someone who is cranky and someone who's a real threat, but we sure will postulate.

Ha ha, online news journalists think "should've" is spelled "should of".

I'm waiting for a story about my high school physics teacher doing something like the guy in TFA. She was the new teacher my senior year of high school, and because she was new, she was given the unenviable job of teaching all three sections of grade nine science and dealing with all the stupid freshmen. Physics was the only class she liked teaching, and it was always the last class of the day. Almost every day we would come into her class and find her crying either from being frustrated or pissed off from having to deal with the freshmen classes.

/I passed her class with an A both semesters

Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

In other news, would it really be that bad if we lost some students and teachers from Florida? I mean, it's Florida for sh*t's sake.

A Glock is a gun. Anyway...

I suspect that there's more to this story. I'm not seeing "threatened to kill" in his statements, if he did say "I have a Glock" that's concerning, but what if he said "It's seven o'clock", or worse yet, what if he really is being thrown under the bus for catching on to a (more popular) teacher doing something inappropriate?

Something not right here is.

That reminds me of the calc class I had to take freshmen year in college. I had no bloody idea wtf the prof was going on about....I was totally lost on the first day and never caught on. At the end of the term, I expected to have failed the class and had my mind made up to retake it later, maybe after some extensive tutoring. To my great surprise, I got a "C". I asked him why, as I had flunked all the exams and never got anything right. The prof said: "You showed up for every class and at least tried. It's not like you're going to be building bridges after you graduate, and I don't want you wasting time and money retaking a class you really don't need".

To this day, I have no idea wtf calculus is about. Well, I sort of do, but don't understand it.

I hope there are still profs and teachers like that still around today.

This guy has to be a Republican.

It's good he'll be wearing a GPS tracker when he's released on bond, though. It will give investigators a way to recreate his exact path through the campus during the rampage.

Funny how if you threaten to kill everyone around you, you can walk away free. But if you stick your dick in a 16 year old girl (who is probably farking numerous high school boys, anyway) you can get 30 years in prison.

There are 3 kinds of secondary school teacher:

1) Competent, sensible, open-minded people who do it until they realise that there are better things to do for a living, which doesn't usually take very long. To the students these people often seem cranky and crazed, but this is because schoolchildren lack the experience to know how normal adults behave when confined with assholes.

2) Career educators who take with them a missionary attitude and the peculiar ideology of education majors. These are queer people who wanted to make a career out of "working with children". Students often like them but usually don't appreciate how weird they are and that other people don't accept having poo flung at them with the same zookeeper equanamity.

3) Real losers, the dregs of the postgraduate class, who can't find any better work. These include some barely functioning, chronically depressed and bitter motherfarkers who live with the knowledge that they wouldn't be fit for smarter work even if they could afford to go back to university. These are the ones who you would expect to snap one day and mow down a class with a shotgun. I think the reason they don't is that they lack any self-respect for the students to offend.

I doubt it. Had a Chem prof do that -to most of the class- back in the '60s when I was in college. Class was an into 100 level with mostly terminals in it (nursing & teaching majors), and this little pencil-neck twerp, doctorate still wet from MIT, walks into class on the first day and puts Schrödinger's equation on the farking board. That was it, boy; about 5 out of 80 passed the first exam, and it went downhill from there. Most -including me- got Cs.

Awhile back someone was breaking keyboards in my library. Taking keys off, ripping wires out of the back of them making them useless....I made the off-hand comment that if I ever "catch the little punk who is doing this I'm gonna smash a keyboard over their head and then choke them with the wire".

Couple kids laughed, others looked at me like I just threatened to rape their dog. I learned real fast that saying things like that can easily turn into a much bigger issue, since some kids really thought I was serious. I explained I was joking and just frustrated about how it was costing us money each time to repair things and stuff got smoothed over, but still.

Side-note, after I made that comment, stuff stopped getting broken. I think when I said it the person who was doing it was in there and one of the ones that thought I was serious about it.

/cool story bro, I know
