They talked about Bertuzzi on "The View" and every other non-Sportscenter program. How come he's not still suspended?

/I'll give the OHL more credit than the NHL right now.

It is amazing how often what was written in satire, with a little hindsight hits the nail squarely on the head.

/at least with regards to the NHL's blatant double/triple standards
//listening to Bettman trying to justify it is kinda funny though

I saw this a few days ago on HFBoards.

Hilarious. And accurate.

Someone's been raiding Colin Campbell's office.

Brilliant.

Hiro's Protagonist 2009-11-14 12:54:41 PM
Pretty accurate
I would also throw in a bias for favoring certain teams to complete it

This.

Pretty good. Unfortunately accurate.

Same blog that had that bit on NHL 2009, yes?

A Toronto Maple Leafs blog

That's sad, but the chart is pretty funny. If you scroll down he also has a post season suspension chart that isn't as funny.

The "was it funny?" line after the hitting the ref bit got me laughing.

Pretty entertaining game last night, no?

Miller is a hell of a goaltender. Too bad the Flames suck at shootouts.

Patrick Kaleta is a POS.

That is all.

Saw this a few days ago, and the "Dammit, Pronger!" sold it for me - but I'm a Sens fan who still think he got preferential treatment when the Ducks and Sens played in the finals.

For those who don't recall, Pronger was suspended for 1 game in teh previous series vs. Detroit for a hit to the head. The next series, vs. Ottawa, he gets *another* 1 game suspension for the same infraction.

When the NHL has a team that they feel "needs" to win, one of their players could take off a skate and murder someone, and be back on the ice a couple days later.

Rev.K: Pretty entertaining game last night, no?

Had to work late, so I only got to see the 3rd period and OT/SO. But from what I saw, both teams were bringing their A game and fighting hard. Had almost a playoff-like feel to the game.

Rev.K: Miller is a hell of a goaltender.

That he is. At this point, he should have the starter's job for Team USA locked up, and he's even making a case for Vezina consideration this year. But Kiprusoff is no slouch either.

Rev.K: Patrick Kaleta is a POS.

He does his job as an agitator very, very well. The fact that he's got you so ticked off proves it. He's extraordinarily good at drawing retaliatory penalties. Last I checked, he had one of the best penalties drawn : penalties taken ratios in the league.

On another note, who says the West is better. Sabres are 5-0-0 against the Western Conference so far this season.

Now on to Philly, where we will likely lose the 2nd game of back-to-backs. Like always.

well, the Flames are playing the Leafs, who also played last night.

Just so you know, As a Canes fan who was pretty dang neutral that year, you're absolutely right. Pronger should have been suspended more the first time, and gotten additional games for repeating the same offense in the finals.

You're not biased on that one.

Don't be too sure about that. Tim Thomas has really come alive over the past two weeks.

Considering the way that series looked, I'd doubt it would really would have affected anything in the end.

Probably not. But Pronger is an ass anyway.

Not that I don't agree the second time deserved more than a game, even though a major reason it happened is because McAmmond is a midget.

Oh he's an agitator, but you could see from the way he went at Iginla that he had no intention of fighting of him. Now I know they want to get Iginla off the ice, but in the wrong situation (as in not up against the boards as it was) Kaleta would have no choice but to go, and Iginla would tune him like a piano.

Flames play the Leafs tonight in their back-to-back. Now it is the Leafs, but I'm a bit worried they ran the tank pretty low last night. You're right about the playoff feel. The Calgary announcers said it was crazy to think that they only play once a year. Sure didn't look like it.

IMDWalrus [TotalFark] 2009-11-14 03:40:21 PM
I loved the "Wait, was it Avery?" bubble.

We could definitely going to get a lot of mileage out of the postseason chart come this year's playoffs.

I used to hate Pronger, but as a Flyers fan I've now come to love the guy. Brings back that old 1970's Broad Street Bullies mentality.

Getting ready to watch my Flyers whip some Sabres ass today.

Oh, I know the Sens crapped the bed, and I'm not even going to try and play "what if...?" - but a repeat offender, especially with the second incident happening within 5 games of the first - just seems to scream out for an increased penalty. Had it been a 4th liner, he would have sat for the remainder of the playoffs.

Yeah, it's working out so well for Brain Burke these days... ;-)

Yes - "What the hell are you even doing calling penalties on him? Put him back on the ice or Bettman will have your farking job."

That's where Bettman being David Stern's evil henchman in the NBA always makes me suspicious of even remotely questionable decisions by the league.

Dunno, but it was like the teams we had back when Paul Ysebaert was playing. Bad guys scored their 7th goal? No problem we go to 11!
