LA Times had a much better headline:

Spider-Man in handcuffs ... J. Jonah Jameson was right!

Who knew they had a comic book blog

For a second I thought this was another one of those comic-book-superhero tournament things.

Actually, the inclusion of Muppets in that superhero showdown thing would have made the matchups a lot more interesting. Then we could have a 200-comment "Cookie Monster vs. Kitty Pride" thread where half of the comments are "Prairie Dawn wins. Why? BECAUSE SHE'S THE GODDAMN PRAIRIE DAWN."

Wait, are you telling me that grown adults who dress up as Spongebob Squarepants and harass tourists for handouts might not be the most stable individuals?

Hollywood Spider-Man impersonator caught in legal web

Is "impersonator" really the right word here?

I agree, the L.A. Times headline was perfect for the character involved.

I went to Hollywood and all I got was head-butted by Chewbacca.

Everyone knows Spiderman is in New York, not Los Angeles, so I would say he is an impersonator. Or are you saying that Spiderman is not a person because he is part spider? Then he could not be impersonated.

Elmo brought down Sesame Street singlehandedly.

Taking down Spider-Man and Chewbacca would be a piece of cake for him, methinks.

If any of you Farkers ever decide to come and visit L.A. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Chinese Theater. As a matter of fact it would probably be best if you avoided Hollywood all together. Wait, the Rock Walk of Fame at the Guitar Center is pretty cool. You can check out Keith Moon's drum kit.

If you can handle being a milquetoast white dude walking down the Bronx ~1986 you can handle anything. (USA at least)

I remember when the 501st was invited to a screening of Episode 2 at the Mann's and we all came out in full costume. We had to tell people 'Um, no, you're not getting in with us' when the posers in their homemade nasty costumes tried to join the assembly...

Was in Hollywood with the family a few months ago.

The guys playing Jack Sparrow and the Joker were really professional and my son really got a kick out of having his picture taken with them....

But, yeah, the sleaze/scummy factor of the other impersonators was pretty high.

And the LA Lakers Elmo was a complete asswipe. He was the one I most wanted to punch. Damn near manhandled my kids and yelling "Dad, take our picture! C'mon, take a picture." It took an ITG scowl from me to drive him away.

He's got a fanny-pack, but I let it slide. There's no lockers on the street, he's gotta put his phone and his keys somewhere - he's not actually going to fight crime.

This is a bit by Paul F. Tompkins with a longish bit about exactly these Hollywood types. It's funny enough that some of you will probably like it. It's late, but relevant. And funny. Skip to 5:00 for the superheroes part.

Don't go near these dregs of humanity. It sickens me when I walk to lunch and see unsuspecting tourists pushing their kids up against these people to take pictures...
