Do a good deed, get a strip search and oil check.

SpinStopper [TotalFark] 2009-11-11 10:19:56 PM
Prison spokesman Jason Clark says inmates who reported finding the drug on Friday were strip searched to make sure nobody kept any of the marijuana.

Honesty is a reward unto itself ;)

They made a crate out of fruit?

mcwebe0 2009-11-11 10:51:17 PM
Was it shaped as an apple or pear?

Loads of legitimate produce that are found to have yielded drugs are often barred from being sent on to the intended location.

Oh goddammit.

10 years ago, I was a "guest" of Denton County, Tx, for an amount of pot that is a simple civil ticket in large parts of the country at the time. Less now.

I worked in the county auto garage, and one day the they brought in a Suburban that was a "drug seizure" with "heater core" problems. The head mechanic, who was a decent guy if you were like me, a normal guy whose only crime is liking to get high when you play with your Denton-standard jam band, kept talking about how they "liked to hide cameras in these cars.

Sure enough, we get the dash off to find a Styrofoam cup covered in duct tape which we didn't even touch, went straight to the deputies there.

Enough "Y2K" stamped X to either have the greatest party ever, or put innocent kids who like to get high put away for a long, long time.

Draw your own conclusions.

That sounds like the worst hidden camera I've ever heard of.

Can we do the "all 20 lbs were reported to authorities" meme?
Because that's always fun.
/Police report all 15 lbs of marijuana were from Mexico
//All 10 lbs of marijuana is being kept for analysis
///Inmates will be charged with possession of 5 lbs of marijuana
////There is insufficient evidence to press charges!
//Sorry guys I smoked all the weed
//Rather, used the whole meme up by myself.
//And all the slashies

Has anyone thought of investigating the police for corruption?

FTA:

EDINBURG, Texas - A police department's gift of fruit to a Texas prison turned out to contain 25 pounds of marijuana.

A gift? What kind of police send "gifts" to prisoners?

And it got by the drug dogs too. It's a mystery!

moralpanic 2009-11-12 02:04:10 AM
Oh, i'm sure they kept some of it. There's plenty of ways to move illegal materials within a prison system other than within inmates cavities.

I'm sure the prison guards properly turned in the 20 pounds of marijuana to the designated evidence room

Accidently shipped the pot, my ass! Some guards and inmates are having trouble meeting demand in that prison because of this bust. Plain and simple. The black market does not stop at the prison gates.

johndalek 2009-11-12 02:53:00 AM
were the inmates strip searched for the missing letters?

and what happened to the people who we pay to insure that things like this never happened? probably nothing.

at least, the drug sniffing dog needs to be pointed out that there are a lot of korean recipes that can be found on the internet----and let that be a lesson--and a warning to you.

Ooops, this crate was supposed to go to the police office. That one with nothing but radicchio and cabbage was supposed to go to the prison. I bet some deputy'll never live *this* one down.

Headline should have read:"Police accidently ship 25 lbs of pot to prison in a crate marked as fruit. Fortunately the inmates who discovered mistake reported the 20 lbs immediately to prison authorities."

Sandwiches Fruit? Blimey. Whatever did I give the wife send to the prison?

Ben Dayho: Headline should have read:"Police accidently ship 25 lbs of pot to prison in a crate marked as fruit. Fortunately the inmates who discovered mistake reported the 20 lbs immediately to prison authorities."

Police say that the 15 lbs, with a street value of $10 billion, was to have been shipped to an individual that they've have had under surveillance who is suspected of receiving shipments of pot.

Duh... they're killers and rapists, not druggies.

professor_tom 2009-11-12 08:20:05 AM
... and for one whole blessed day, there were no reports of violence, while the inmates all sat happily on their bunks, quietly chatting.

Psykorgasm 2009-11-12 08:21:50 AM
I don't think the prisoners should have gotten strip searched for only 10 pounds of pot. Whatever happened to trusting the prisoner that they have rehabilitated?

Oldiron_79 2009-11-12 08:44:09 AM
25 oz of pot, that was barey worth the cop's time

CravenMorehead 2009-11-12 09:00:44 AM
Obviously when these felons were faced with a choice of free pot and a free body cavity search they thought the latter would be more more. Texans...

Aaaaand we have a winner! No way in hell was this accidental, but I bet they had that story ready just in case they were caught.

It's nice to know these cops mail pot. Where was it really supposed to go?

johndalek 2009-11-12 09:27:52 AM
so what ever happened to the 1/2 ounce of pot--did the cops take it back?

Strip searched while stoned -- an experience most Farkers can relate to.

The idea of prisons being about rehabilitation died a long time ago.
