I saw Thabeet play soccer with Steve Nash in Vancouver. It was really weird seeing him go up for headers on corner kicks and be well above the crossbar.

Kid had some soccer skills, I was surprised (but looked awkward as fark dribbling).

I saw a couple of the UCONN games during March Madness last year. 7'3 is ridiculously tall even next to other ridiculously tall basketball players. And his hands look way too big for his body. The guy looks like a cartoon.

Chad Ochocinco (God, I hate that name, but at least it's original) has some soccer skills, as well.
Both guys, minus their height, look more built for soccer than their respective sports.

Indeed; by "catch a break" I meant "get impressive results from a No.2 overall freaking draft pick." I also meant "use a future-HOF guard well and keep him from storming off your team" and "win more than a game."

He was an MVP. Unless something changes, every MVP gets into the HOF after they retire.

NimbleWalrus: The other guy in that photo is the steal of the most recent draft: DeJuan Blair.

It sucked to have him fall that low in the draft, but ultimately I'm glad he's on the Spurs. Backing up Timmy and the rest of the Spurs front line is the perfect role for Blair starting out. Also, the Spurs organization plus Popovich's coaching will do him well and I guarantee he will become a fan favorite.

As a Pitt alum and basketball fan, I have few better sports memory than the photo you posted where Blair body-slammed Thabeet. I'm looking forward to seeing the two of them meet in the NBA (assuming Thabeet stays in the league long enough for this to happen).

The only problem with drafting Thabeet is you constantly read poorly written headlines utilizing songs that use the words "the beat" in them.

Oh and why would I go watch the Grizzlies when I can watch a college team for less than half the price and most seasons is a better team. It's going to be a tough year for the tigers but it always is when all your signees are at a different college. That said it'll be fine next year and I can resume paying less than half the price to watch a better team.

You can go see UM play some chump schools for less than half the price. If you want to go see them play any worthwhile team it is about the same price.

Yeah except it's $40 to see the griz in the upper decks it's $40 to see them play Syracuse in any seat in the house.
