That means it is forbidden to kill women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like.

"And the like?" What the hell does "and the like" mean? "And the like" implies that there's some tacit relationship or fundamental similarity between women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, and traders from which we can extrapolate a "likeness." What's the "likeness?" Innocence? Why would traders automatically be assumed to be innocent? Or elderly people? What's the cutoff for "elderly?" Or "children?" Good on them for taking what I guess are some positive steps, but seriously. Would it be that hard to say, "hey, you only get to kill people who are actively trying to kill you" or something?

I think they mean the all girl rock band, The Like (new window). For some reason they have decided not to kill them. They should have capitalized it to make it clearer.

It means they will begin with the firemen, then the math teachers, and so on in that fashion.

Yeah, I'm sure al Qaeda is gonna adopt this code. It's just the direction they're looking for.

How is an organization whose main goal was to overthrow Qaddafi "one of the world's most effective jihadist organizations"?

Standing by those ethics is what distinguishes Muslims' jihad from the wars of other nations."

I guess you mean starting from this point forward, because up until now, pretty much the opposite of all of the points you laid out has been true.

You know what, I was just getting used to the old jihadi code and now they go and pull this. Pick someone to blow up and stick with it already. Geez, terrorists. Can't live without them and they can't stick to their creed.

This is obviously the work of a heretic or apostate under the influence of the Crusader Western nations and their Zionist puppets.

Burn this vile "code" and kill the infidel that showed it to you!

I've been a major critic of Islam for years because they consider civilian targets to be legitimate. Hopefully these new "rules" will extend to Jews as well. Killing Israeli children has been considered acceptable because they grow up to become soldiers (military service is normally mandatory).

Hopefully, this is the first step in a Muslim reformation.

CapitolG 2009-11-10 04:49:13 PM
And so who will enforce this "New Jihad" code?

Like will Iran pick on Bad Jihadists? who do not go with the new "Jihad Lite" code.....

And secondly who is this asshat? I though that muslems listend to the big Mohamad, and that was about it?

How dose this libarian guy get off thinking that he can redefine the nature of Islamic holy wars...

Could you even think of this, Hey Salman Rushdie, we were going to get all Jihad on your backside, but turns out you are now old, and we cannot, some guys in Liberia said so.....

I don't think they're trying to get al Qaeda to adopt it. They're trying to alienate al Qaeda amongst the mujahadeen

BlorfMaster 2009-11-10 04:50:07 PM
Um, sure. Also Sunni and shiate tribes have decided that they are actually the same thing.

There is no central Islam authority, like the Vatican. Who ever has the most money and guns decides what Islam 'is'.

And more relevent, will they bring back Jihad Classic when this new style fails?

I doubt you have the expertise on global Islam to make a blanket statement about what "they" think.

I'd bet that's about like trying to say what Christians, as a group "they", think. There are numerous factions in Christianity and Islam.

I was just a boy when the infidels came to my village in their Black Hawk helicopters. The infidels fired at the oil fields
and they lit up like the eyes of Allah. Burning oil rained down from the sky and cooked everything it touched. I could only hide myself and cry as my goats were consumed by the fiery, black liquid death. In the midst of the chaos, I could swear that I heard my goats screaming for help. As quickly as they had come, the infidels were gone. It was on that day I put a jihad on them.
And if you don't believe it, then you better kill me now, because I'll put a jihad on you too.

/you have balls, I like balls

Not even remotely close. LIFG was quite an operation at one point, and very much a thorn in the side of Col. Quackaffi. Some suspected, and Col. Quackaffi insinuated, they were Western paid / supplied to overthrow him.

The real purpose here is (for both LIFG and Col. Quackaffi) to help keep Libya's young ones home and furthering the country, not getting themselves killed in some pointless land war in Asia.

Headso [TotalFark] 2009-11-10 04:52:41 PM
Why does anyone think this is a good thing? It will make "jihad" less morally reprehensible to moderate muslims, the ones with the money to donate to a cause.

Both are contravening their God's most basic values while cloaking themselves in demented piety.

I'd say that this is exactly the way to reform Islam. They are much more responsive to ideas that Christianity, since there are so many different sects and they don't have the control over their followers like having a Pope would. Every Imam that buys into this can influence his followers with this idea.

That being said, its also why its difficult to change the entirety of Islam, since they have so many sects and ways of thinking you cannot simply persuade a Pope and "presto" civilians stop dying. There will always be blood thirsty regions with violent Imams until they join the modern world, IMO.

Do the "new rules" say not to kill the "vilest of creatures" or the "descendants of apes and pigs"?
If not, the Jews are probably still valid targets.
