Makes me glad I have the Ravens D on my fantasy team. Let's see...12 sacks, 1 point per sack, 5 INTs, 2 points per INT means...I win teh leegee!

I'm taking MN this week since they get Detroit. And replacing Manning due to his offensive troubles with Favre. I think I'll have a good week.

Does this mean he has no chance of hitting 70% of the snaps now? Is that why they decided it was time?

QBs and kickers have entirely different skill sets.

Now, if I could only figure out my other RB to start this week. Chris Johnson or DeAngelo Williams...Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I believe Quinn needed to take 70% of the snaps this year to get his bonus, so that's out. A choice between a guy with an awful TD/INT ratio and a guy who won't throw more than five yards down the field, good times.

Is this a joke? Buffalo has the worst run D in the league, while ATL is slightly above average. CJ is the no-brainer start of the week.

I think this will be the most irrelevant Minday night game of my league's fantasy season. Heck, even the Lions/Rams game was more significant.

Going to Anderson at the time made sense. At the time it did. However I believe we'd still be 1-7 if we stayed with Mr. Courage all season long.

Staying with him after the first couple of weeks did not.

hehe, just thinking that. benched for no particular reason seeing as his replacement was undoubtedly worse, then brought back as the starter as soon as it's impossible for him to get his bonus. much lulz.

The Browns never should have been overly concerned with this season. What, you thought they were going to the Super Bowl? The playoffs, even? This year should have been about nothing but building a solid core and developing the young talent. That's exactly why jerking both QB's around like this is the worst possible scenario.

Here's an easy fantasy football tip: if you don't plug Chris Johnson in as a starter and leave him there for the rest of the season you shouldn't even bother playing the game.

TommyBahamas: he was shunned after playing 45 seasons, the dude makes Farve look like a kid out there.
==========================================

That's not the point. Even at 48 he was an amazing kicker with an accuracy equal-to or surpassing most everyone in the league.

But he was shunned to the sideline because he was old. Though, Favre was the same way. Waffled for a tiny bit because of retirement and GB threw him out to the bathwater SOLELY because he's old. If Favre was 33 and had waffled on retirement and came back, he'd still be in GB. I guaruntee you.

But shiate like Derek Andersen and Brady Quinn who will forever suck, are still in the league. Solely because they're young.

I understand teams that are in 'rebuilding' mode not going for an old guy. But jesus.

AFC North consists of three great football teams this year where all three could end up in the playoffs.

And then there's Cleveland.

I'm going to try and defend Mangini here for a second:

They started out the season with the young quarterback. Maybe their defense will play above their heads and they'll win some games! That didn't work out.

So they switched to their veteran quarterback to see if he was for real or just had one flash-in-the-pan season. Turns out he's just a flash-in-the-pan.

Now they're going back to the young quarterback for half a season. Quinn has eight games to show he can hang as a starter and win the job for the 2010 season. Otherwise, they can safely blow up the whole quarterback stable in the offseason and start from scratch next year.

It's not the best way to solve a quarterback controversy, but they have their answers, and like you said, it's not like they were going to make the playoffs anyways.

skinink 2009-11-10 07:47:02 PM

Mangini should have never been hired as coach. He's made two QBs worse, his handpicked GM was fired (not that he did much anyways) and if you read all of the comments by Browns fans made on Cleveland.com, they are really disappointed in this team.

Never hire a narc.

George Blanda was 48 when he kicked his last FG in an NFL game (1975). John Carney (Saints) is 45. Jeff Feagles (punter, Giants) is ~43....

Steve Deberg & Vinnie Testaverde started into their 40's. but only their early-40's. I seem to recall Flutie was in his early 40's too when he retired....

being a 40+ year old QB that plays is undoubtedly more impressive than being a 45+ year old kicker that plays....

cheers

At 47 Blandas season quarterback rating was 95.8

He only tried throwing the ball four times that year, but still...
