You know, this might inspire to make the cartoonists to fight back. By making more cartoons about Muslims and their faith. Maybe the shear weight of satire will get these bullies to back down.

/they can smell fear

Does anyone here think this cartoonist doesn't deserve to live in fear of death?
Unless he's an idiot, he knew taking a controversial stance put himself at risk.
Kurt Westergaard shouldn't have been making fun of religion anyway; he asked for it.
Everyone should be free to practice their own beliefs without criticism or contempt.

Some people will claim this is a free speech issue, but we all know it's not.
Unless you think you can yell "fire!" in a crowded movie house, it's not free speech.
Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Islamics, and even Muslims should not be persecuted.
Kurt Westergaard crossed a line as an attention whore and essentially asked for this.
Some day he will regret his taunts and insults, and realize that he is the intolerant one.

No one deserves to live in fear of death over a farking cartoon.

If you believe that someone should BE KILLED FOR DRAWING A CARTOON, then congratulations, you just identifed yourself as a terrorist. I hope you enjoy your visit from your local law enforcment, and I wish you all the best in your future endevors when all your friends and neighbors learn what a twat you really are.

Unless all your friends and neighbors belive the same thing. If so, then get ready for the air strike.

/it is about freedom of speech and expression, and freedom FROM opression and totalism. And you damn well better yell fire in a crowded movie house if the theator is on fire.

The Danish Cartoon thing really showed what cowards most of the Left in America are. Their caving into the fears of offending 'muslims', while taking every chance they can to take shots at Christians shows that they do not value the 1st Amendment and are weak, little bullies. If the person may punch back, they won't throw a punch. Most of you Total Farkers do not deserve to live in free society. The way things are looking, you will not die in one.

Why? A core part of the right to free speech is the right to opposition. Obviously people should be free to practice their own beliefs without being silenced, but opposition and contempt are part of speech and belief too.

It's not free speech if you can only say some things.

not everyone with a socially liberal position feels this way. the religious of the world (notably the muslims) need to get the sand out of their collective panties.

i also refer to Lewis Black's bit about muslims having no sense of humor -- i would post it, but i don't feel like looking it up.

Donald_McRonald: That's a stupid idea.

Exactly. I don't have a right to not be offended either, nor do I have a right to not be opposed. This is the flip side of 'the right to swing my fist ends where the next person's nose begins': the same rights that make me free to speak also make you free to oppose me. The reverse is also true.

That's a large part of what freedom is. No, it's not always pleasant. This unpleasantness is acceptable, because the alternative -a false sense of security for some at the expense of liberty or agency for others- is not.

So, either Allah:
1) Doesn't give a shiat about the cartoon
2) Gives a shiat, but is unable to kill people on his own. In which case, he's not really a very powerful god, is he?
3) Doesn't exist
